එකමත් එක ගමක සිටි මවක් වයසට ගිය පසු ඇයගේ දියණිය ඉතාමත් ආදරයෙන් ඇයව බලාගත්තාය. මවට ඇවිදීමට අපහසු වූ විට දියණිය ඇයව කරමත තබාගෙන ඇවිද ගියාය. මවට ආහාර කැවූවේ ද කුඩා දරුවෙකුට මෙනි. දිනක් අසල්වැසියෙක් ඇගෙන් ඇසුවේ, "ඇයි ඔබ මෙතරම් වෙහෙසක් ගන්නේ?" කියාය. එවිට දියණිය සිනාසෙමින් මෙසේ පැවසුවාය, "කුඩා කාලයේදී මාව ඇවිද්දුවේ ඇයයි, මට බත් කැවුවේ ඇයයි. අද ඇය මහලු වූ විට ඇයට එම ආදරය ලබාදීම මගේ වගකීමක් පමණක් නොව, එය මගේ ජීවිතයේ ලැබූ උතුම්ම භාග්‍යයයි."
