FOOD HACK // What to do with an oversupply of fruit? Create a freezer stash. Portion it out into handfuls and stick it in the freezer - a no waste solution. Here’s my favorite recipe for a fruit stash smoothie - inspired by
Smoothies fit the bill when you need to be speedy - quick to make, portable, and not to mention delicious.
Recipe:
3/4 cup milk (I use coconut or almond milk)
1 raw egg (organic if possible)
1/2 teaspoon raw honey
3-4 tablespoons frozen fruit
1/4 teaspoon vanilla powder

Stick in a blender and whizz until smooth. It’s that simple.

Life’s a treadmill of to-do’s. Do you ever feel like you’re on auto pilot? Self care helps reset the internal current. Sometimes we need to ask the question
- what is it that I feel, what is it that I need? And then listen to the answer. I talk about having a healthy sense of entitlement. Knowing that the oxygen starts with you. Choose to do something this weekend that you love.

I love my family, yet sometimes I am a prisoner. I am bound up by the chains of motherhood and by my own anxiety. As I write this piece, I am seated at the end of my child’s cot. He will only fall asleep with me by his side, and wakes at night time asking for my return. And so I do. Like many, I have spent a portion of my day today diffusing arguments, cleaning up paint, facilitating games, playing judge and jury, and making food that goes to waste. And my heart breaks with my older child’s confession of sadness that his little brother always get his mommy.
I keep reminding myself of today’s splashes of joy. The utter delight on my eldest son’s face because he gets a morning alone with mom; and the sheer innocence on the faces of these two beautiful souls.
Like many parents, on reflection of my day, I wish I would’ve handled some things differently. More patience perhaps, less consequences, and more presence. But one thing is for sure - always I love you before bed, sometimes accompanied by guilt. And a reminder too, to love myself and show compassion.
Perhaps sitting here is a blessing for me. A chance for cathartic exploration. I feel grounded and peaceful.
My child is sleeping now -
Time for dinner.

As parents, really the only thing we can control is how we perceive and react to situations. With young children, Sleep is definitely not something we can control. I was up last night for several hours calming an unsettled child. Albeit moments of frustration in my mind, all I could do was my best to be in the moment and know that it would pass. And it did eventually. So this morning I am tired, and especially mindful of how I speak to myself - something I can control.
