More than just a stallholder!
Peta from Nuts End Macadamias is taking the week off, something she does at this time every year.
And she has a pretty good reason.
When Peta isn't running her macadamia farm at Hogarth Range, processing her own nuts, creating the recipes and flavours we know and love, packaging them and bringing them along to market each week… she has another 'baby.'
The Casino Fun Run. https://casinofunrun.com/
Peta doesn't run in it, she runs it!
She's one of the people behind the scenes putting in the work to organise an event that brings people together and gives back to her community.
And I think that's something worth celebrating.
Our stallholders aren't simply the people you see standing behind a table on Thursday morning.
They're farmers, producers, small business owners, volunteers, organisers, parents, neighbours and members of our wider community.
They're the people growing our food, running local businesses, supporting local events and contributing to the communities around us.
That's one of the things I love most about a farmers' market.
You don't just get to know where your food comes from.
You get to know the people behind it.
Good luck this weekend, Peta, we hope your 'other baby' has a fantastic day!
And don't worry, Nuts End Macadamias will be back next week.
Run Casino is back for its 13th year at a new home along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, with 21.1km, 10km, 5km and 2km events.
