Happiness is simple things like freshly baked bread on a Saturday morning, and listening to little voices narrate the entire day.

Have a happy day everyone ☀️

For a long time, bedtime felt like the hardest part of our day. Three busy boys, endless energy, frequent wake-ups, and the usual battles that so many parents know all too well.

These days, our evenings are much slower and simpler.

After dinner and baths, we then do our little bedtime routine. This night had Daddy reading books while I applied everything, but usually the kids take their own turns putting on their creams themselves.

We roll on our Teething Tamer Essential Oil blend to their temples and along their jaws, massage Finny’s Cream Kids Magnesium onto their legs and feet, and rub a little Easy Breath Chest Rub onto their chests. That one in particular is perfect for this sniffly time of year to keep us breathing clearly.

I also switch on the diffuser with our Sleepy Time blend, tuck everyone into bed, and that’s it.

This routine has become one of my favourite parts of the day. After years of struggling with sleep, we’ve found that creating a calm, predictable bedtime rhythm has made such a difference in our home.

The boys know what’s coming, their bodies start to wind down, and bedtime feels peaceful instead of stressful.

It’s not about perfection or making anything complicated. It’s about slowing down, connecting, and ending the day gently. 🌱

Late afternoons here have become one of our favourite little rituals.

We head out for a walk to find the kangaroos, kids running ahead, with a little tin of our Backyard Balm being rubbed into arms and legs before we go. It’s simple, grounding, and just part of life on the farm.

Made with beautiful botanicals, pure third-party tested essential oils, certified organic ingredients, and local beeswax from right here in the Bundaberg region, it’s a cream we feel good about using on the whole family.

Simple ingredients. Honest care. Nothing unnecessary.

Just nature in a tin. 🌱
Off to go spot some kangaroos in the neighbours macadamia farm 🦘

There’s something really beautiful about realising that the thing you value most in life… is time.

I’m sitting here in the winter sun after what was honestly the simplest, sweetest little morning of learning with my boys.

Less than an hour. That’s all it took.

My five-year-old worked through phonics, my four-year-old explored the days of the week, and my two-year-old filled pages with drawings and little scribbles that somehow feel like masterpieces while I sang days of the week songs. We set it all up on a picnic rug out in the sun while the sheep wandered nearby, the horse quietly watched on, and the dogs made sure they were part of every moment.

And in between it all, they ran and played.

They’d race off together, giggling, completely free, then come sprinting back to the mat like it was the most exciting game in the world, ready to dive straight back into learning again as if nothing had been interrupted at all.

No pressure. No rush. Just flow. And then I simply packed up while they continued playing.

Trampoline jumping, loud laughter, wild energy, bare feet, joy everywhere (in between a few little arguments of course). Running amuck in the best possible way, in a slow-paced world that feels like a gift I don’t take lightly.

This life is something I’m deeply grateful for.

Grateful that I get to be here for it all. Grateful that I get to watch them learn in real time. Grateful for the opportunity to slow everything down and let childhood actually be childhood.

And I can’t write this without saying how thankful I am for their dad, my husband, who works so hard to make this possible for us. None of this would be our reality without his effort and commitment to providing this life for our family, so I can be home with our boys, present in all these small, everyday moments.

Now we’re heading over to the chickens to collect eggs and talk about the different breeds and the different colours they lay, because even egg collecting turns into a lesson without anyone even trying.

And I wouldn’t trade this slow, beautiful chaos for anything.

Ok… if you read my chicken post earlier, here is the follow-up… When you own a small army of chickens, you end up getting pretty creative with eggs. I wonder what Royal Gully Farms recommend for egg recipes.

I stumbled across this recipe a few months ago and honestly didn’t think it would be anything special. I was very wrong. My boys are completely obsessed.

Here’s what I use:

🥚 6 egg whites (save the yolks for later!)
🧀 Around ½–¾ cup grated cheese (I usually use tasty cheese and am very generous with it)
🧄 A good shake of garlic and herb seasoning
✨ A little sprinkle of paprika

First, whip the egg whites until they’re nice and fluffy and holding their shape. Think delicious clouds.

Then gently fold through the cheese, garlic and herb seasoning, and paprika. Don’t go stirring it like you’re mixing a cake batter or you’ll knock all the fluffiness out.

I line the air fryer basket with baking paper, spoon the mixture in, spread it out into a rough circle, and cook it at 200°C for about 7 minutes.

Then try very hard not to eat half of it while it’s cooling.

It comes out golden and crispy around the edges, soft and fluffy in the middle, and smells so ridiculously good that the boys magically appear in the kitchen before it’s even finished cooking.

The only downside?
Now I’m standing in the kitchen holding six egg yolks and wondering what to do with them.

Usually they end up in fried rice, but i would love some brilliant egg-yolk recipes.

Nobody tells you that owning chickens and ducks is basically:

• refilling water bowls 47 times a day because someone turned it into a mud spa

• stepping in p**p so often you stop checking your shoes

• checking for eggs multiple times a day because somehow it’s still exciting every single time

• naming every chicken and duck, then acting offended when visitors can’t tell them apart

• putting eggs in the incubator “just for fun” and then suddenly having 15 tiny fluffy babies hatch within a week

• spending half your life asking, “Has anyone seen Barry?”

• looking out the window to find one of the boys carrying a chicken around like it’s an accessory

• dropping everything because a duck walked funny and now you’re convinced it’s an emergency

We started out wanting a few chickens and fresh eggs.

Now we’ve got a flock with more named members than some families, children who treat chickens as emotional support animals, and a habit of counting birds every evening just to make sure everyone made it home.

The ducks are chaos.

The chickens are chaos.

The kids are chaos.

And somehow we’ve become completely obsessed with all of it.

Sure, the eggs are “free” if you ignore the feed costs, fencing (building it and then fencing every plant because they find them delicious), bedding, coop costs, worming medicine, incubators, water containers, and random farm-store purchases. Thanks Northside Produce Agency for being my go to!

But honestly?

Watching a mob of chickens and ducks come running across the orchard because they think you might have snacks is one of the best parts of our day.

The addiction is real. 😂🐓🦆
