Pakistan to Play First-Ever FIFA Men’s Tournament at ASEAN Cup 2026
Pakistan’s men’s football team is set to make history by competing in its first-ever FIFA-sanctioned tournament at the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) confirmed the national team will be among 14 countries taking part in the competition during the FIFA international window in September and October. Hosted by Indonesia, the tournament will feature Pakistan alongside regional teams including Malaysia, India, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, marking a major milestone for Pakistani football on the international stage.
The FIFA ASEAN Cup has been created to provide national teams with more meaningful international competition while strengthening football across Asia. Pakistan is one of three invited teams from outside Southeast Asia and will compete in the main tournament, where teams will be divided into groups based on FIFA rankings. PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani welcomed the announcement and thanked FIFA for giving Pakistan this historic opportunity. The tournament is expected to provide valuable international experience for the Green Shirts and help boost the country's growing football ambitions.
