The People's Market at Hart, Port Adelaide

The People's Market at Hart, Port Adelaide The Port Adelaide market is now permanently closed. An alternative site is being sought. bananas, mangoes, pineapples. Thank
you for your support.

Permanently closed.

Formerly on Military Rd, West Lakes Shore the market has moved to 45 St Vincent St, Port Adelaide in the Harts Mill precinct. Market hours are Fri-Sun 10-4, however, we are there a bit before and after and are happy to help you with something if you need it then. We do things differently, come check us out and meet some of the people in your neighbourhood. The market is new and growing in lots of

areas as we respond to our customer requests moving in a healthy, educational and inspirational direction thanks to THE PEOPLE with local fruit and veg, organic/non spray and superfoods, bakery, milk, and assorted other market items. Plus we have a garden section of edible plants by Port Adelaide Food Gardening. ... We buy local and promote what is in season when we can plus offer a full range of veggies for a one stop shop e.g. Keeping it local is our motto and inspiring others to do the same!

The Port was buzzing (croaking) again last nigh with River Night Walk winter festival. Lots of free things for kids plus music, comfy fires, hot chocolate, coffee, food vans, bars, restaurants, lounges were all booming. Huge crowd! Well done everyone!

One more night to go tonight 5 to 9pm. Heads up, plenty of free parking in Harts Mill parking lot, then a 5 minute river walk to the lighthouse area, but lots of action up and down Saint Vincent St too and back streets.

FYI, we are still looking for a new location if any ideas let me know. I will be in Canada for family matters again in Sept but hope to boomerang back if the universe wishes for a fifth Adelaide location? Hopefully not too far away from the last one which was again perfect for what we do/did. Thank you the Jaffer family.

Also, thanks everyone for your support past 18 years and 8 years in the Port.

To finish to story:
I had a walk past the Fenix deli on Saint Vincent St where I had my first Aussie pie walking to work to Santos on Francis St Gilman in 1987! The pubs were full eg Port Admiral at 8am with wharfies knocking off the night shift…then all the pubs started getting full again at lunch and at 4pm from the next shift. Last nights event I must admit looked like a healthier option but remaining pubs which are still many were likely full too. I just had a ginger beer and meal at Gopal.

Had a trip down Fleurieu Penn yesterday and chance to briefly visit Willunga market at the high school. Had a nice chat with an old friend at Gut Feeling stall. Will go earlier next time as heads up closes at noon. I thought 12.30 for some reason but managed to grab a coffee on Main Street (Altria coffee and tea) and swing by one of my favourite places in Aldinga (only 15 mins away) on the way back - the Star of Greece cafe/takeaway (and saw a mini Moke, one of coolest cars ever! Interesting day out with me, myself and I.

I went to the central market today. What an eye opener/ some of the old school still there and other new age openings like a Milky Tea pink place. We ate at Zuma’s. Guaranteed awesome food but cramped and walked thru the place after to mix of vibrancy and finished Portuguese looking at Tarts

Everyone were amazing plus bumped into an old helper at a super cool spice place . Overall well done.

Plus a chat with a guy in the elevator on way out.

he first shopped there 1960 as a ten year old.

I 1987 as a 21 year old . Quizz . Who is older?

Answer he is 10 to 11 years older.

But it didn’t matter we had an elevator ride where people talked…btw it was a lovely looking baguette. Rock on mate!
