Yesterday’s event felt like the beginning of something important: a future where the women of Bangladesh, across villages, towns and cities, across backgrounds, opinions and generations, are not only included, but trusted and empowered to help shape what comes next. I hope it is one of many such spaces that continue to open up, and one that I can keep learning from and advocating through.

I was honoured to share such a pioneering platform with Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Tamara Abed Hasan, and Rupali Chowdhury. Thank you for your insightful contributions, and for continuing to lead in your respective ways.

It was equally meaningful to listen to and engage with so many accomplished, ambitious and committed women from across various sectors, including Sumaiya Arju Muhu, Syeda Anannya Faria, Dr. Halida Hanum Akhter, Tanzina, Monica Chakma, Afroja Mukta, and Mamunur Rashid Efti.

A special mention to Sadia from BRAC University's law department for asking a very in-depth and important question during the Q&A session - glad to know there are such bright women like you asking the right questions in society!

My sincere thanks to our moderator, Kazi Jesin, for guiding the discussion, and to Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury for engaging in the dialogue and outlining policy thinking around many of the issues raised.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who took the time to be present. Progress only happens when we listen to one another, and stay in the conversation, even when perspectives differ.

Yesterday was also a reminder that women are already leading Bangladesh. But belief must now turn into action. Empowerment cannot live only in speeches or policies; it must show up consistently in our homes, workplaces and institutions. And that work cannot be carried by women alone.
To the men, leaders and decision-makers among us: support is measured not by intention, but by sustained action. Systems must be shaped collectively. The future we want is one we can only build, together.
