I'm happy to have been invited to witness the beauty of young people who are willing to help in building a community, Miss Drug and Substance Abuse at Mmankgodi over the weekend. The pageant was not only about beauty and dresses, it was about young people who are willing to be part of life changing mission. The pageant was organized by Mmankgodi and Thamaga Police Station Thamaga Police in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Agency under the Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services, bw and village cluster groups.
The mandate is to educate people about the dangers of abusing drugs and eventually reduce the abuse of drugs especially among young people. A lot of young people are using drugs ,some are because of frustration led by unemployment , some they grow up in a toxic environment involving drugs and some are because of peer pressure. With this initiative the Botswana Police Services are trying to reduce the use and abuse of drugs through education as we believe knowledge is power. Through this initiative of pageantry the Police services has opt to help those under the control of drugs by engaging young people to help to spread the message. The plan is to have a free abuse of drugs generation , together we can achieve that🙏
