Baysville Farmers’ Market: 25 Years As A Community Gem
From Humble Beginnings to a Village Tradition
In 2001, on a sunny Friday morning, a small group of folks gathered at the corner of Brunel and 117. With baskets of fresh produce, homemade pies, and hand stitched crafts, they launched a modest market under the care of the Baysville Community Group. That corner lot gathering sparked the beloved summer tradition we now know as the Baysville Farmers’ Market.
Over the years, the market flourished and relocated a number of times including behind the Community Centre, in the gas station parking lot and finally finding its home at Season2Season Garden Market in 2019. When the pandemic hit and volunteer numbers dwindled, the Baysville Community Group stepped back, and Season2Season kindly managed the market for six more seasons. Now, more than two decades later, the market has returned to the heart of the village, ready to welcome old friends and new faces alike.
A Market Full of Local Treasures
Each Friday, the Lake of Bays Community Centre grounds transform into a vibrant hub of community life. Tables and tents brim with:
Fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, meats, eggs, and dairy
Colourful plants, flowers, and garden items
Handmade crafts and artisan goods
Freshly baked treats, preserves, and local delicacies
The market is more than a shopping trip—it’s a place where vendors remember your name and neighbours catch up over the scent of warm bread and fresh fruit.
