The Spring Equinox is upon us. A few weeks ago I was invited to meet the first year students at KPU Farm School to chat with them about my business and how our partnership connects our work - creating great food for fine folks. The students grow peppers and beets for my sauces each year. We had a great time and an hour flew by so quickly. I hope they felt the gratitude I feel for them and the profound respect I have for their choice to be growers of our food. We are so lucky to have them! I hope to be able to share more about KPU and the Sustainable Farming Program as we continue to build a partnership that enriches the food community here in the MST.

As we move to Spring we are called out of hibernation to reconnect with the land, and even though I’m a little indoorsy (🤣) I am doing my best to connect what had been disconnected from me.

Thank you to the students, Sahar, Rebecca and Martin for sharing your class time with me.

Thank you to the Narwhal for reaching out to us. It was lovely to speak with Stephanie about grocery, retail and all things food business. She collected some heavy hitters here: Authentic Indigenous Seafood Bangin’ Bannock Tradish Canada

Bangin Bannock putting Cree on their label has to be one of my all time favourite food entrepreneur triumphs. 👏🏽

We are few but mighty. And one of us really has to work on their stoic face, just saying. 😆

One last very special event this year for Sriracha Revolver and your very last opportunity to get your favourite flavour before the holidays! ❤️🔥❤️

I’m very honoured to have been invited to join The Drive for Palestine event.

This community & cultural fundraiser will take place on Saturday, December 20th at Britannia – Gym D, from 11:00am–6:00pm. This event is being organized by the Palestine Fundraising Committee at REACH Community Health Centre, in collaboration with community groups.

We hope you can join us and shop locally for the holiday season! All funds raised by the event organizers will go directly towards relief efforts with the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

Sriracha Revolver will donate $5 for every 130ml bottle of Chili Garlic hot sauce sold at the event to the organizers towards their fundraising goal.

🗓️ Saturday December 20th
⏰ 11AM - 6 PM
📍 Britannia - Gym D and the 55+ Centre (1661 Napier St)

✨🛍️Come enjoy tasty Palestinian treats, shop from our local vendors market, visit the cultural art exhibit, learn traditional Tatreez embroidery, and stop by tables with our community partners!

🎶💃There will be a kids corner, raffle, cultural performances, and much more.

All are welcome to join us in a safe and inclusive community space.

In the midst of my holiday deliveries this morning I realized I had forgotten about a routine appointment with my nurse practitioner in oncology. Got there in time only to find out that I qualify for some new test (I’m not in danger / do not have cancer - all good), and could I just pop over and get some bloodwork done. Let me tell ya how much spontaneous needles throw me into a tailspin…

I went into the big building where I used to get chemo (trauma) and once again mentally submitted to the process. The kind gentleman who took my blood asked me what I was going to do with the rest of my day. I said I was going to finish my hot sauce deliveries. He asked all about it and it turns out he buys my sauce from all the time. He told me he adds it to his soups at the request of his kids and said my sauce is a part of his family’s life.

He shook my hand. He made me feel very special in the midst of my discomfort.

I’m very grateful for his kind words and for this good memory, in this building, I get to have.

Last month at the 18th annual BC Food and Beverage Association Rise Awards I was honoured to be given the Indigenous Led Business of the Year award.

It feels very special to be acknowledged in this way for my contribution to the feast of BC’s food community. BC’s food producers are a diverse, passionate and creative bunch. Proud of us ❤️

Thank you to my family, my colleagues for continually inspiring me and to BC Food & Beverage for recognizing my heart-led commitment to creating flavour, heat and happiness.
