Well… somebody's forgotten special order is somebody else’s lucky day. 🤷‍♀️

I have 4 pans of Sourdough Dill Pickle Feta Mozzarella Focaccia in the farmstand this morning after a special-order no-show. These loaves are fresh, they’re delicious and they are ready to go right now.

And...

A little housekeeping while I’m here:
Going forward, special orders for NEW customers will require a deposit before I put them into my production schedule. No exceptions.

Our regular customers who have an established order/pickup history with me... nothing changes for you.

This is a tiny but very busy farmstand and a very small-batch operation....I make everything myself here.

When someone asks me to make something specifically for them, I buy/use ingredients, make room in a ridiculous schedule, shuffle things around to honour my commitment to the order. If that order isn’t picked up and paid for, that cost and time lands on me and the ripples actually run far and wide..

Ultimately, our stand runs largely on the honour system, and the honour part has to go both directions.

So: deposits on new special orders from here on out, and today’s accidental bonus is Dill Pickle Focaccia in the stand.

Come benefit from my newly acquired boundary. 😂

Yesterday on our way home from the market, we took the scenic route and made a little detour to check out the Rollin' Dough Farmstand.

Now, I've been meaning to come by for freaking ever, but life keeps happening 🤷 and the timing just never seemed to work out. However, this impromptu farmstand tour happening lately is 🔥 and I'm more driven than ever to make the effort to make it happen!

First of all — pretty drive! Not far off the beaten path at all which was lovely, but all hay bales and rolling fields and then this super cute stand right at the driveway. Cannot miss it!

The stand itself is wee and ridiculously cute, and apparently I completely forgot I was there to look at the food because…

CHICKENS.

Tiny chickens. Chicken signs. Chicken figurines. Chicken frying pan (i wished that one was for sale!) chicken things hanging from other things. Little chicken details tucked absolutely everywhere.

I was so busy finding chickens that I came home and realized I had taken approximately a whole roll of chicken decor photos and none of the actual baking that I went for... which is particularly unfortunate because it really did deserve more attention.

I grabbed some scones for the drive home and, listen... I buy from other bakers pretty regularly. I love trying what other people are making and supporting other producers. But truth is we don't always consume all of what we pick up, cause I'm also a pretty damn picky person. It has to at least be better than mine to be worth the calories, ya know?

I took one bite of that scone and immediately thought, ahhh OK, I see you .. this is exactly the scone I aim for every time.. Not dry, just the right crumbly.. Bright flavor, pockets of different textures 🤌 chewy blueberry... Crispy edges. Mhmm... Yes please. I'll take more of that. I reluctantly broke off pieces for Mr. That and his mom because I was raised to share, and then I ate the entire rest of the package on the drive home (if you know me, you know I don't finish anything I eat, EVER so ya.. )

The bacon cheddar bread made it home to become the pillar of market night girl dinner: hunks rotisserie chicken, rough cut cheese, market fresh fruit and whatever else we had collected along the way shared from a couple platters on the coffee table. Honestly, bread a surprising 10/10 for flavor and texture.. It was So good.

Then I promptly passed out. As one does after market day.

10/10 little Sunday detour. Beautiful drive, adorable stand, excellent baking, an unreasonable and inspiring number of tiny chickens. My kind of place. ❤️🐓

Anyhow.. I'm off to go paint a frying pan now 👋

I always start bake day for the markets full of good intentions about taking videos and photos and sharing our process. I'll create content, I think.... Take photos, make a list, print a menu. Ha Ha Ha.

But then reality hits, I can't find my phone or i have so many timers set that the video can't record, or.. I simply forget to record, or somehow butt dial myself and record a half hour audio clip of me cussing at the dishes, or better yet, drop it in the sink.

Anyhow, all that to say I've got pretty much zilch for content of the farmstand restock but suffice to say she's full to the tippy top!

Horses Sourdough Sandwich
Garlic Parmesan sourdough
Dill and feta sourdough focaccia
Roasted beet and confit garlic Parmesan sourdough focaccia with pine nuts and balsamic reduction
Sourdough bagels (everything, cheddar and classic)
Double dark chocolate banana bread
Pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls with creamy caramel glaze
Restock on candied walnuts
New item : pumpkin spiced pecans!

This is our last regular market at Alberta Beach... We won't be there next weekend (be sure to check out our open house event instead) but we will be back for Halloween and then Christmas. Be sure to follow us to keep up with what we're up to 🙏

It's a day for puddle jumping if you're outside, I think...

But it's an even better day to stay inside and bake!

Sourdough bread, snack mix and Salted Caramel Pecan Sourdough brownies in the stand so far.. Plenty more coming throughout the day. Stay dry and warm.. I've got your snacks handled!
