My love of baking began as a small child. I spent countless hours in the kitchen alongside my Grandmother Betsy. She taught me that pouring love into your work feels so very good. When you see the smile of a friend enjoying something you have created with butter and flour, gives you a sense of accomplishment. My grandmother had passed years earlier so I knew
I was on my own for the task of my Wedding Cake. This is where the story begins. I was so eager to learn the techniques of cake decorating as to show my friends and family my hard work on the big day and the joy of cutting the first slice with my new husband. After taking 4 courses in decorating and 100's of trial cakes... The big day arrived and my cake turned out beautifully. I kept making and decorating cakes for friends and family. I felt nervous about venturing off and starting to do my passion as a business. In 2010 I did begin working with a partner. A small home business not yet marketed and within 4 months I was able to launch the company off the ground with my strong marketing skills and close knit community partners. I realized quickly how much I loved baking for not only my family but my community as well. Unfortunately I made many mistakes in going into business with a partner. The main one being "Never go into a business with a partner" lol and more importantly, keep paperwork of everything.. Sadly I lost 1000's of dollars and most of my decorating supplies I built up over the years. I was subject to a criminal Scandal and I was not the first one in my own community. There was a silver lining in all of it. It gave me strength to venture out on my own and with my friends, family and my entire community rallying around me, Sinful Treats was born. Today I am making and decorating cakes for businesses and families in my community with the same love and devotion Betsy did those many years ago. I am thankful for my dear husband and best friend for encouraging and supporting me each and every day and our 4 beautiful children who have proven to be the best taste testers around. please feel free to browse my site or drop me a line.
