Easy Gluten-Free Tempura at Home!
Ingredients
* 1 cup gluten-free tempura flour
* ¾–1 cup ice-cold water
* Shrimp, peeled and deveined
* Vegetables such as sweet potato, zucchini, onion, broccoli or mushrooms
* Oil for deep frying
* A pinch of salt
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the ingredients: Pat the shrimp and vegetables dry. Slice vegetables into thin, even pieces.
2. Make the batter: Mix the gluten-free tempura flour with ice-cold water. Stir gently—don’t overmix. A few small lumps are perfectly fine!
3. Heat the oil: Heat oil to about 350°F–375°F (175°C–190°C).
4. Coat: Dip shrimp and vegetables into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.
5. Fry: Carefully place them into the hot oil and fry until lightly golden and crispy, usually about 2–4 minutes, depending on the ingredient.
6. Drain: Remove and place on a wire rack or paper towel to drain excess oil.
7. Serve: Enjoy immediately with your favorite tempura dipping sauce.
