I've been to the White House every time in my 71 years that I've been invited. I've been invited twice in the past year. And, if I get invited this year, or in 5 years, I will go again. Not because I put our elected officials on a pedestal. I just go to help.

I often find myself politically confused, and I make it my business to always stay in my lane: raising livestock with good animal welfare, regenerate the soil beneath their feet, and revitalizing my rural town of Bluffton, Georgia. And when that is on the President's agenda, I'm proud to share my experience.

In early June, I was invited to the White House for a meeting with President Trump and some of his cabinet members. I was told there was going to be an executive order signed in the Oval Office, and I was invited to tell the President how my farm had transitioned away from the commodity cattle industry into a small, vertically-integrated food hub. It was my first time being so close to where policy was made, and it was quite surprising. I wasn't there to smile and pose. I was there to plead the case for Regenerative Agriculture.

I felt that the four of us farmers who were invited to the White House on June 25th did a pretty good job pleading our case. The President signs only a few executive orders each year, and the one that day was centered around Regenerative Agriculture. I never thought the type of farming that I have been figuring out over the last 30+ years would ever be passionately discussed in the Oval Office. But a few Cabinet members and four farmers were given the opportunity to witness this, and I appreciated having a front row seat.

I planted two varieties of blueberries 🫐 4 years ago.

🫐 The first year they were barely a foot tall, primarily worked on root establishment and produced a handful of berries between the 4 plants

🫐 The second year the got to about 2 feet and started bushing out. Still very little production.

🫐 year three, they continued bushing out and gave me enough berries for jam

🫐 this year, one variety is up to 5 ft tall, the other about 3 and very bushy. I have tons of berries

Because they're different varieties, they setblooms and produced fruit at different times which means I actively get fresh berries for 2- 3 months easy.

Pictured the partial harvest off one plant. It's still got tons more ripening.

I wish I could tell you which varieties I planted, but alas🤷‍♀️
