ክቡር ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ እና የቱርኪዬ ፕሬዝዳንት ሬሲፕ ጣይብ ኤርዶዋን ነሐሴ 4 ቀን 2016 ዓመተ ምህረት የስልክ ውይይት አድርገዋል። የሁለቱ መሪዎች ውይይት በሁለትዮሽ ጉዳዮች በተለይም የንግድ መጠንን በእጥፍ በማሳደግ ላይ ያተኮረ ነበር። ቀጠናዊ ትብብር ማጠናከርን በተመለከተም ተወያይተዋል።

ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ ፕሬዝዳንት ጣይብ ኤርዶዋን በኢትዮዽያ እና በሶማሊያ መካከል የተከሰተውን የሃሳብ ልዩነት ለመፍታት ላደረጉት ጥረት ምስጋና አቅርበዋል። የ120 ሚሊዮን ሕዝብ ሀገር ለሆነችው ኢትዮጵያ በጋራ ስምምነት መንገድ የባህር በር የማግኘት አስፈላጊነትንም አጽንኦት ሰጥተው አንስተዋል።
