My story
Hi I am Dalma. When I was diagnosed with Insulin resistance I was shocked. Now I know that it was coming as I had type 2 diabetes in my family. So as everyone nowadays I went on the world wide web and searched and searched ….. That is what I found:
Insulin resistance increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. Prediabetes usually occurs in people who already have in
sulin resistance. Although insulin resistance alone does not cause type 2 diabetes, it often sets the stage for the disease by placing a high demand on the insulin-producing beta cells. In prediabetes, the beta cells can no longer produce enough insulin to overcome insulin resistance, causing blood glucose levels to rise above the normal range. I was told I had to change my diet, my lifestyle and take medication. I had to say goodbye to the lovely cakes and pastries because they all contained white flour and sugar. But I could hardly keep it up. So started to search again….. I found alternative sources such as whole grain wheat flour, rye flour, spelt flour and birch (xylitol) as a sugar alternative. Even fructose is not an option because it contains just as many calories as sugar, makes blood glucose levels higher, and can cause laxative effect. After a lot of research I started to experiment with my favourite good old Hungarian recipes and even my family loved it. I appreciate that not everyone has time for baking all the time. That is why I offer home baked traditional cakes and pastries in much more healthier style. Some examples:
Salty: cheese sticks, 4 seeded sticks, quark scones, cheesy puffs
Sweet: Cinnamon biscuits, oatmeal cookies, cinnamon swirl,
