Dear reader,

I have come to the realisation that the undertaking of running Carmarthen Food is too much for me right now so I am looking to hand over my work to a new director who can give it the time and energy it needs to keep it running.

All interested parties please leave a message below & I will get back to you.

Deri Reed.

Meet Alistair from “Sunrise Market Garden.”

Sunrise Market Garden, Peniel

Alistair & partner Adlina grow healthy, chemical free veggies in Peniel, just outside Carmarthen.

Alistair & Adlina are new onto the vegetable selling scene but don’t let that put you off as their vegetables are phenomenal, vouched for by many who have been eating them at Community Canteen Cegin Hedyn Cegin Hedyn CIC .

Sunrise Market Garden are the perfect match for the kind of produce / producers we are looking to lift up and support through this platform. People doing such magical things like growing our food need to be looked after as our food system is so fragile right now & if we don’t support people like Alistair & Adlina we might loose the availability of food like this in our communities.

My name is Deri Reed,

I'm a food enthusiast and champion of local producers.

I have taken over the reins of Carmarthen Food & plan to bring my experience and expertise to this fantastic community project.

I will be launching the project on Thursday 1st December , and I am looking to crowdfund some capital to set up a system & team to make this fantastic project a financially-sustainable one.

My vision...

My vision is to connect food producers, suppliers and growers with local communities to create a weekly online farmers’ market, connecting customers with sustainably-focused food that has a positive impact on the environment, economy and/or communities.

Where will it be located?

In Cegin Hedyn Community Kitchen at The Lammas Street Centre, Carmarthen.

How will it work?

Carmarthen Food will be set up on a new platform called The Open Food Network, which is an open-source software designed for food producers and community food hubs.

Customers visit www.CarmarthenFood.com, and will be able to choose from a list of produce from our suppliers (to be announced shortly)
Orders will need to be placed by midnight on Mondays for producer to gather the orders
Your orders will be ready to collect from Cegin Hedyn between 4:30pm & 6pm

Why?

Because I want my local community to have direct access to healthy, fresh, nourishing & nutritious food at an affordable price, while supporting small, independent & artisan businesses.

What will I use the money for?

Creating a website
Paying for a manager for one day a week (this will be me to begin with until I find the right person to help me)
Accountancy fees
Marketing
Develop the satellite pickup locations approx 10 miles north, east, south & west of Carmarthen to widen our customer reach.

How you can help?

If you are not in the position to offer financial support in exchange for one of our rewards, but want to help, here is a list of things that would be really helpful for me:

Share my video on social media (Facebook, Instagram, local forums)
Place an order when the system goes live
Volunteer as a packer on Thursdays to help us get the orders together
Post our mountain of fliers around Carmarthen in all the hotspots

Final note

To keep these food growing communities alive and thriving they must be at the forefront of people’s minds when buying their weekly shop, and their services must be easy to access.

For the new Carmarthen Food to survive I know ease, efficiency & speed will be major aspects for its success in our increasingly fast-paced technology-dependent world

Thank you for reading/watching
