We’re looking at the market for 2025. The big question is do we have enough volunteers to pull the event off??

We have the funds for PAID workers to support us on the day for set up and take down. We would rather be able to get people to support us by making a commitment to volunteer. However, we know time is precious and for that we might need to adapt a model where we pay for the hands required.

It will be SATURDAY 6th December (When permission is obtained from the charter holders for the event)

The market has been going since the late 90’s.
This is the stark reality, it’s not easy to put the event on and relies upon a great deal of support from local people and business’ - support that is in limited supply and puts a strain on a very small team.

Stall Erectors x Multi (Pop up Gazebos Only)
£15 for morning / afternoon session

Traffic Marshall X4 (training provided)
Morning x2 06:00-10:00 pay £50 each person
Afternoon x 2 15:00-18:00 £37.50 each person

Litter picker x 2
Afternoon 16:00 - 18:00 £25 each person

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐀 𝐖𝐫𝐚𝐩!

We made it!
What a journey this year has been. From thinking the market was behind me after over a dozen previous attempts at coordinating this event.
This year was quite different, in at the deep end picking it up rather late in the day, more than 3 months behind the usual planning start time.
The challenge was on! When I thought it was all sorted and settled we had the Storm Darragh which brought its own criticism and questioning.
The first ever time it had been postponed due to weather, I did not want to cancel the event as I know it brings so much to our small businesses including my own.
Despite the date alteration you did not disappoint! You turned out in your thousands to come and support this event.
It was an absolute pleasure to see visitors, traders and shop keepers smiling and having a great time.

The whole event takes an enormous amount of time and dedication. Hopefully you all thought the effort was worth it. There were some massive hurdles to overcome in relation to the traffic management and other administrative difficulties but in the end it was all good!

On record so many need thanking! It’s so hard to put the names to here as I know most, like me don’t do it for the praise, they do it as they want Conisbrough to be a better place.

So am enormous shout out to councillors, painters, training organisations , charter holders, friends & family that have dug in to help me
Get this over the line. It’s appreciated more than I can ever say.

It’s now time to have an ice cold beer, digest the event and then get on with setting the ball rolling for 2025……

URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Market will be delayed by a week.....
The decision is tough but we have to keep everyone's safety in mind. From the traders and volunteers to all you guys attending. The forecast is getting progressively worse. The best thing we can do is move it back by a week to SATURDAY the 14th DECEMBER.
We have the support of the council who have a team waiting to re accept our application for the event and the road closure. They will like us pull out all the stop to transfer it. We are in contact with all our traders and are currently advising of the move.
With storm Darragh on the western part of Ireland and heading to us in the next 24hrs its the right thing to do.
We need your help now to share this far and wide. Tag your friends let them know, were not cancelling just a move.- we will re open the books to accept other stalls for people who were not available.

See you on the 14th!

have a go at speaking to other markets around the globe. Whilst you’re at that summons the big guy him self. We heard he’s taking some time out to take some requests. 🎅 💫

A final call for stall holders wanting to stand this Saturday at Conisbrough Christmas Market.
It’s 10-4pm.
No Caterers Required.
Roads closed and market in centre of Conisbrough. Support with live music, food & drinks. Great footfall. Well established - more than 25 years!!

We need to close the bookings and make good our final layout for a Saturday.

𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲….

Even though there is a wealth of experience in bringing our market to you we have all sorts that go on behind the scenes. From year to year we have a number of tasks that need carrying out. These require planning, checking all prior to market day. Then on market day it’s all hand to the pump to make it happen. Despite what some think it doesn’t just “happen”

Today a team of volunteers have been at our storage facility checking through the equipment and road closure signage ready for the big day.
We have managed to finally get the banners and signs out too, a little later than normal.

We still need more elves to help us out:-

Morning crew - meet at 06:00 at Ginos.
Afternoon Crew - meet at 16:00 at Ginos.

We’re all classed as volunteers but we will be rewarding the crews with food & drinks from one of the bars & restaurants in the village.

Are you coming to the Market? It's not too long now until Conisbrough centre is transformed into our annual Christmas Market.
The event has lots of things planned in from gifting ideas for Christmas, wreathes to hang on your door, candles to make your house smell devine. We also have things to eat & drink. It would not be the same with a hot mug of Glühwein and some Christmas Carols playing in the background. With the pubs bars and restaurants opening up to let you rest those feet and fill up.
Keep your eyes peeled over the next week as we take a closer look at the market and what's going on....
