Learner to Leader to Mentor | An NLTG Alumni Success Story 🔥

Over 20 years ago, Mark Davies began his journey with NLTG as a Professional Cookery Apprentice, taking his first steps into the hospitality industry with a passion to learn and a determination to succeed.

Today, Mark is Head Chef & General Manager at Bolster Moor Farm Shop leading teams, bringing dishes to life, and mentoring the next generation entering the industry. 👏

Mark credits his Apprenticeship at NLTG for giving him the foundations that shaped his career, from learning essential kitchen skills and teamwork to building the confidence and leadership needed to run a successful kitchen operation.

What started as an opportunity to learn on the job became a lifelong career built through hard work, progression, and experience.

And what makes this story even more special is the people behind it. 💙

When Mark first started at NLTG, he was supported by tutor Jason Slater, who is still part of the NLTG family today as a Study Programme Tutor, continuing to inspire and develop young people beginning their own journeys.

Now, more than two decades later, the story has come full circle.

Mark is now supporting and mentoring Bolster Moor Farm Shop’s newest apprentice, Millie, who has recently started her journey with NLTG, creating a powerful full-circle moment that perfectly captures the impact Apprenticeships can have across generations.

Millie says the thing she loves most about her role is:
🗣️ “The atmosphere, the people, and getting to turn something I’ve always loved into a real career.”

🗣️ “I’m looking forward to developing my skills and taking on new challenges!”
