Chess club fans, you might not know that we’ve started hosting another monthly social at Greens Grocers & every third Tuesday, giving you another chance to play chess with a lovely bunch of peeps.

We might, I repeat MIGHT, get a bit of sunshine this month and enjoy some alfresco chessco. The video on slide 3 was taken in October 2023, and I’m pretty sure that was the last time we managed a full evening of chess on the terrace, so this would be amazing! 🤞

As always, chess club is for all abilities. Everyone’s welcome, and you can bring friends or come alone and meet some new ones.

The Pig Love bar will be serving tasty local brews, Greens Grocers will be pouring wines by the glass, and Jess will be on the snack trolley with snacks, plates, and pintxos available until 7pm.

To make sure we bring enough boards, we’ve created a new booking link. It isn’t essential, but it helps if you book a spot. Book via the Eat Your Greens event page (link in bio)

Chess club fans, you might not know that we’ve started hosting another monthly social at Greens Grocers & Pig Love By The River every third Tuesday, giving you another chance to play chess with a lovely bunch of peeps.

Serving Suggestion - Fusilli Arabbiatta

1. Take a bag of Northern Pasta Fusilli
2. Add some to boiling water (salted)
3. Cook for about 8 mins
4. Drain
5. Stir in a jar of The .uk Gochujang Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce
6. Top with lots of grated cheese (optional)

It’s Salad Season and it’s straight out the ground fresh 🥗

Nothing like your supermarket salad, which is usually picked weeks before they half-fill the bag, wilted by the time it reaches home, bathed in pesticides and washed in chlorinated water.

Ours is from down the road at and ,hand picked just a couple of days ago, pesticide & chlorine free.

We’ve got fresh, peppery, crunchy varieties of salad that make your side the way it should be, healthy and tasty.

BBQ season is in full swing 🔥 and we’re back by the river next weekend with another Greens & Friends Summer BBQ. This time, we’ve got a very special guest joining us on the grill

Sam Lamiri, spice barron and founder of Lamiri Harissa, is heading up from London (via Tunisia) for a spicy collaboration with Eat Your Greens Leeds.

Sam and the Lamiri family have been on a mission to bring harissa back to its Tunisian roots, sharing the community and culture behind it across the UK, and very very excited to welcome the team to Leeds. This is proper Tunisian harissa, imported straight from La Marsa, Tunis, made using the finest baklouti chillies, traditionally dried in log ovens for that deep, smoky flavour, following the Lamiri family recipe.

We’ll be serving up marinated lamb kebabs with chermoula, grilled veg, za’atar aioli, and pickles.

Plus, Everything Plant-Based seitan mergeez for a veggie/vegan option 🌱

It’s going to be a hot one 🥵

Seasonal Showcase Series. Early Spring 🌿

Welcome to our new series showcasing the seasonal delights in store each month 🍊

In the UK, we’re deep in the hunger gap, the stetch between the last of the winter crops and the first signs of spring. It’s pretty slim pickings, so we’re looking to our friends on the Continent, especially in Italy & Spain, to plug the gap.

First up, tomatoes! Sweet, juicy datterini (“little dates”), and the incredible Sicilian winter variety, Marinda. Savoury, slightly salty, and unlike any tomato you’ve tasted before 🍅

Raddicio and chicory for you bitter fiends, and then the Tropea onions and Catalonia’s famous calçots… so good they have their own festival, the Calçotada

It’s also peak citrus season. We’ve got golden nugget mandarins, blood oranges, and “tiger lemons” said to be sweeter than their various cousins, but turns out they are still fairly sour 😖

And finally, the first signs of British produce are arriving! Fresh local salads and the return of Isle of Wight tomatoes. More on this next episode where we’ll be heading out to some of our local spots.
