One of the Highlights of the year so far!

WOW I couldn’t be prouder of this amazing group of people. Who most have gone from zero morris experience to a seriously solid bunch of dancers in such a short space of time. They should all be so proud of yourselves.

Yesterday was the first time seeing us all in kit, apart from our musicians, dressed in the colours of the Powys flag and we look f**king awesome.

But there is always room for more, so if you want to look this awesome, get in touch!

What a day at Yesterday

We met some truly amazing people your energy, kindness, and support meant the world to us

I borrowed this idea from someone last year, because while you can’t buy from everyone, it doesn’t stop you from wanting to support them! So here’s a little shoutout to some of the incredibly talented crafters we had the pleasure of meeting on today’s adventure

Yes I know I haven't posted in a while I'm sh*t, I simply hate social media but I think that's okay...

Anyway while the wheel of the year has been turning so has the lathe. It's been a busy time recently with plenty of making going on.

But here is just a few bowls that will be making an appearance at this weekends Nottingham Pagan Market Beltaine festival

The end of coppicing season will soon be upon us a time we truly love. There’s something wonderfully comforting about hard work warming you on a cold day, with nothing but the sound of the trees, river, and birds to keep you company.

The highlight of this season has definitely been making Wild Moon Morris Morris their sticks to dance with, along with creating our very own morris sticks for our brand-new side, The Black Orchard Border Morris a completely new and exciting journey for us in which we are infactuated!

Over the last few days, the medium hasn’t been wood but wild clay from our own land.

Guided by the amazingly talented .boyd.art , we dug it up, processed it, sculpted our small trinkets, and then built our DIY kiln which is still burning as I type.

Working with clay was a bizarre but exciting change for me. Creating a shape from clay feels completely different to removing material from wood to form the shapes I usually make.

The whole experience has been truly beautiful, and I can’t thank Hannah enough for teaching us. Hannah Boyd-McKee is an extremely talented artist and an amazing person and friend who runs her own art school, where she helps people create beautiful pieces so please, please go check her out!

Today is Hen Galan, the true turning of the year, we stand between what has been and what is yet to come.

The old year loosens its grip, and the new one is invited in with good words and open doors.

Tonight we thank the Mari Lwyd and bid her farewell as she leaves the houses she has blessed.
May peace, prosperity, follow in her wake.

We now look onward to old Twelvy when we will wassail in our orchard, scaring away negative spirits and blessing the trees for a bountiful harvest
