A tip of the fisherman’s cap to our boys and girls down in Cornwall. The weather’s been brutal so far this year and the tides haven’t been kind to the industry.

Winter’s long, laboured crawl is done. Yesterday it actually felt like the year started — sun on your face, dry socks and shoes, windows down across London.

What matters is they’re here, charred, sweet, messy. They'll be dragging their green mates in behind them. Asparagus is creeping in the valley. Peas lie patient in their pods.

Its time to leave the cave.
And take that scarf off.

Po***ck with Ribollita - fabulous flakey white Brixham sourced fish and a vegetable bread broth that will keep the sniffles at bay.

Risotto da Gallinella. New on the menu this week.
A confident plate, where simplicity meets warming generosity. Risotto rice cooked with fish stock, wine, aged parmesan and a small k**b of butter. It's just the thing to bring some light into the darkest of months and provides the same assurance as fish soup.

Fede's trip to is the reference point. His favourite meal of last year and definitely one for the romantics out there. Almost an hour away from Venice on the Vapporetto, a fisherman's island of small coloured houses. Amongst these sits the fish restaurant of dreams.

February 12th. We celebrate Carnevale di Venezia, as we always do. It's a festival of light and colour, where the rules diminish slightly. An opportunity to lose your belt and let the wine flow.
