HERITAGE:
Haji Baba began from a small family run business established in 1972 at the heart of Hounslow, West London. It was the first halal meat shop in the area providing the first generation on British Muslims with authentic Halal. Haji Baba helped finance and build the first mosque in Hounslow, we also very proactive in community events and fundraisers helping to serve and support our local co
mmunity. For over 30 years we have developed and innovated the Halal Market in London. We have learnt our trade, not through consumer profiling or focus groups, but from from the ground up by talking to our customers everyday. This gave us a real world view of what Halal consumer wanted, what their tastes were and which meat products were in demand, this simple interaction became a strategy that works for Haji Baba. Haji Baba acknowledged that the market was changing and that the younger generation preferred to do their shopping under one roof. Often customers would buy their halal meat from us and then go across the road to do the rest of their family shopping in ASDA. We approached ASDA directly in 2008 and after a year of fulfilling their exact requirements, we were given the green light for our first Halal meat concession in ASDA, Hounslow. We created Haji Baba Ltd, a separate new company, with a new look, new suppliers, new staff and new Halal thinking. More than 14 years on we now have 50 retail outlets across the U.K working with major retailers to improve the ethnic offer to all shoppers.
