The three little fluff balls we kept back are officially becoming a rather interesting little trio… and apparently nobody read the original casting notes 😂🐔🌿
Our beautiful Blue French Copper Marans pullet is looking absolutely gorgeous and thriving in the grow-out pen… while somebody else is starting to give us that unmistakable “erm, I think I am a little roo” energy 🤣🐓
A pure French Black Copper Maran, out of either Bill or Ben, and already making next season look rather exciting. This is where knowing your breeding lines really matters — keeping track of parentage, understanding who can be paired with whom, and planning ahead to maintain healthy, well-managed lines rather than simply putting birds together because they look pretty. 🥚🌿
And then there’s our little fighter. 🥹
The tiny one with the wonky leg who was affectionately nicknamed Flamingo has earned herself a promotion…

Pretty sure she’s a little pullet, and despite the odds she’s eating, drinking, growing and getting herself around on that one leg with an impressive amount of determination. She may do things a little differently, but there is certainly no shortage of fight in that tiny body. 💚
Three little birds kept back for three very different reasons, all growing into their own characters — and giving plenty to think about for next year.
