A Message From the Owner of Nisa Local Church Village/Tonteg 💙
Since taking over the store, my aim has been to turn it back into the proper local supermarket that this community deserves.
I know the store still needs a lot of work. It is an older building and, before I took over, it had not received the level of care and investment it needed. I want customers to know that I am committed to improving it properly.
We have already started making changes, but a store of this size cannot be completely transformed overnight. We will be carrying out further refurbishment to make the shop brighter, cleaner, more appealing and easier to navigate. We are also reorganising the shelves and product categories so that everything is displayed logically and customers can find what they need more easily.
This is not simply an off-licence. We are a supermarket, and I am working hard to make it feel like a full supermarket again.
Since taking over, we have:
🛒 Added more than 200 new product lines, with a target of adding another 20–30 lines every week.
🍎 Increased our fresh fruit and vegetable range, which is now regularly replenished and kept well stocked.
🎟️ Received approval for the National Lottery, which should be available in store within the next 2–3 weeks.
📰 Continued offering newspapers, PayPoint, alcohol, chilled food, frozen food, groceries, household products and everyday essentials.
❄️ Introduced our 3 for £7 freezer promotion, with more than 10 products to choose from.
🏷️ Put proper monthly promotions in place across alcohol, chilled products, frozen food and everyday essentials. Our next promotion begins on 29 July 2026, and we will be sharing the new offers tomorrow.
We have already seen an increase in footfall, and many customers have told us they are pleased that they can now find more of their everyday essentials in store.
Our Co-op and Nisa products are sold at the official recommended retail price, and we are working hard to remain competitive with the major supermarkets. On many key promotional products.
The difference is that you are also shopping locally and receiving friendly, personal customer service from a team that listens to you.
I am also working on some major additions for the store, including:
🥪 A Subway
🥩 A local butcher
☕ A local café
These plans are all part of my goal to make the store a better shopping destination for the whole community, while also supporting other local businesses.
I am regularly present in the store and always happy to speak with customers. When I am not there, our Store Manager is available to listen to your feedback. You can also speak to any member of staff, and they will pass your requests directly to me.
Customers have already requested many products that were previously unavailable, and we have brought a large number of them into the store. We are doing our best to maintain consistent availability, although introducing new suppliers, reorganising ranges and improving stock levels takes time.
Please continue telling us what you would like to see. Comment below with the exact product, brand, flavour or service you would like us to add. We genuinely read the feedback and act on it wherever possible.
I understand that the improvements will take time, but they are already underway. Once the refurbishment, new services, concessions and range improvements are completed, I am confident that this will be a much better supermarket for Church Village, Tonteg and the surrounding community.
