In 2007, we Tongans had pride in the Tonga Rugby Union (TRU) and 'Ikale Tahi in their achievement at the RWC. They almost beat world champion South Africa. That's 17 years ago. But what has happened since? Some say it's gone from bad to worse. I totally agree with those sentiments.

It's not rocket science. Tonga Rugby Union must be overhauled and a new CEO plus a new coach must be hired based on merit, not nepotism. This is the root cause of the problem. TRU needs 2 things: integrity and professionalism.

Tonga's 'Ikale Tahi has now lost 8 of its last 9 games under new coach Tevita Tuifua. This includes losses to Spain, Romania and USA. Tonga is now ranked 18th in the world behind Portugal.
