At Slimming World we welcome Facebook groups and pages that celebrate the spirit of Slimming World and provide members with a place to share inspiration, ideas and experiences between sessions. However, we have a duty to our paying members to protect them from incorrect information and to protect the integrity of the brand by ensuring that the quality of the service that members subscribe to in group and online is not affected by unofficial communities. We want to ensure members are clear on the difference between official and unofficial communities. Slimming World would expect any Facebook group or page that uses trademarks such as Slimming World, SW, Food Optimising, Free Food, Syns, Healthy Extras, Extra Easy or any relevant abbreviations, either in the name or in the ‘about’ section, to adhere to these terms and conditions. Groups that continually ignore this guidance will be reported to Facebook to request closure. Slimming World will always try to amicably resolve disputes with admins before reporting to Facebook. Terms are below:
Please state clearly in the ‘about’ description that the group or page is unofficial. If you are not a Slimming World Consultant, please state clearly in the ‘about’ description that you are not trained by Slimming World or authorised to give Slimming World advice. Please remind members that the advice shared within your Facebook group should not replace the advice given by their Slimming World Consultant. Please advise members that Syn values provided in your Facebook group may not always be accurate and, ideally, should be checked with Slimming World using official resources such as the Syns calculator, Syns Online on LifelineOnline or by calling the Syns Hotline on 09068 518518. Please do not use the Slimming World logo in your profile picture or cover photo to avoid confusion for members and to avoid infringing Slimming World's Intellectual Property. Please prevent the sharing of copyrighted Slimming World materials that have been created for members only. This includes, but is not limited to, pages from our New Member Pack, pages from our recipe books, PDFs or Word document collections of recipes from our books/website/magazine, recipes and articles from our member website LifelineOnline, features and articles from Slimming World Magazine. Please prevent the selling or promotion of any products. Individuals found to be using these Facebook groups to sell or promote products including self-created recipe books, other diet products and Slimming World-branded merchandise including plates and food diaries, should be reported to [email protected]
Please grant access to the group to Slimming World's social media team for occasional review or comment. Members of the team will have their role listed in their profile. Please create a positive environment, free from judgement, criticism or humiliation. This is in keeping with the Slimming World ethos. We would advise that members who are continually abusive towards others should be blocked from the group. Please help protect Slimming World's good name. If you have a dispute with the organisation please contact us directly. Slimming World would never publicly criticise an individual or group. We expect admins of a Facebook group that is based around the Slimming World brand to try to resolve any dispute privately too. Slimming World's reputation is dear to us and we take every effort to ensure that our good name is upheld and protected. Trolls, spammers and adverts for goods will be deleted unless consent is given by us. As admin we reserve the right to put links or adverts on we feel are appropriate. No adverts for any goods or other groups should be put on here without permission via a personal message, not a post showing the goods or groups which asks us via your comment.
