This is the next step in getting the bees to create some beautiful new queen...in step 1 (see previous post) we added young larvae to queen cups and here the bees have fed the developing queen's Royal jelly over a period of 5 days. The larvae are now full of nutrition and will go through pupation in these capped queen cells and emerge as virgin queen in days time

Such a fascinating process and slows our queen to be of the best quality and having strong local generics and good traits

Watch out for the next part in a few weeks time to see how the queens , once emerged from these cells do.

It's that time of year where we can remove some excess spring honey from our strong hives. This hive has 4 honey boxes and we are removing 2 leaving them plenty in case the weather turns. Spring honey has a lovely delicate floral taste. This year the trees and flowers started blossoming early allow our bees to get an early honey crop.

🐝 What a buzz-tastic day! Today’s beekeeping experience was full of fun, learning, and unforgettable moments as our attendees got up close with the incredible world of bees. From spotting the queen to seeing the bees work on the honey, every smile reminded us why these experiences are so special. 🍯✨

Seeing everyone connect with nature, overcome nerves, and leave with new stories to tell made the day truly magical. These are the kinds of memories that stick for years to come — sweet as honey and shared with amazing people. 💛🐝

Farm bees are growing fast.

These were in nucleus boxes (a small starter box) about a month ago. Now on double brood (full size extended home) and some have multiple supers (honey boxes) on. Lovely site, lovely bees and great farmers. Watch this space for details of our first honey harvest from this location.

Bees growing fast..

In what has been an exceptionally difficult winter for bees up and down the country, it's lovely to see some of ours are very strong and growing well.

We are still not past the danger time, now the queens have started laying again, they will be using up their food reserves quickly. Now is the time for us (the beekeepers) to help if they need it.
