Great Sankey thank you… that’s a wrap. You are just amazing. Thank you to our loyal customers and traders who have supported this event for 5 years.
To Andrea, Dan and the Great Sankey Parish Council… thank you ! You gave Independent Street the chance to showcase at our first ever monthly artisan market. Such a special exciting time and one that put our little business on the map.
After a local residents survey back in 2020 an artisan market was one of the things top of the list for the Great Sankey community… and an artisan market is what they got!
And what an event it was… 70+ stalls in its Hay-day! We stopped traffic!..people came to visit from far and wide. It was just incredible that so many AMAZING small businesses wanted to showcase with us. It is ALWAYS the traders who make the market. And through this event we have met so many of you who will be lifelong friends.
My children came to the event, my husband helped with the set up. It was and very much still is a family business that uplifts and supports thousands of other small businesses and provides a platform for them to showcase to their local communities.
After a meeting over coffee we dropped anchor back in 2020 at the Woodlands where Chris and Alison gave us the chance to put this brilliant event for the local community into reality by dropping anchor at their pub.
We have worked tirelessly for 5 years with hundreds of small businesses, many many musicians, bands and choirs. We have supported countless community groups, sponsored local music festivals on the site and liased with so many local visitors, residents and council members.
Fast forward 5 years and we were handed our notice by the Woodlands last Summer as they wished to seek a change in the offering.
Our journey continued, traders followed us and we found Sharon and the Con Club. Sharon you have been nothing short of wonderful. You and your team are a credit to the community. Always smiling. Always cheerful and always supportive.
We thank you so much for providing us and our traders with a home until the end of the year.
Due to market saturation in the area we have decided to not restart for 2026 in Great Sankey. The footfall just isn’t there to sustain the size of event you have all grown to love and expect.
We hope you can all continue to support our wonderful traders at Birchwood and Bents.
Great sankey… it might be the end of the journey with you… but it’s not the end of our story….
