Founded in 2006, The Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market is recognised as one of the best in Europe and loved for its unique location—nestled beside the cathedral in its historic close. If you would like to apply to take one day in the Charity Chalet at this year’s Christmas Market, complete the application form and read more at: https://bit.ly/4tiUVEs
The Charity Chalet is free of charge, for all UK registered charities.
Applications close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 20th May 2026.
Successful applicants will be notified of their successful application and the date they have been allocated (at random, but you can suggest preferred dates for us to consider) by Tuesday 16th June 2026.

Admission to the Christmas Market is free, no pre-booking required 🎫

Please note: The last couple of the days at the market can be very busy. If one entrance is busy, please use another one, there are three in total:
◉Through ‘Curles passage’ on the right of the cathedral (our most popular entrance where queues often form)
◉Colebrook Street, also known as ‘Water Gate’
◉St Swithun’s Street

Opening times:
Today, 21st December: 10.00am - 5.00pm
Tomorrow, 22nd December (final day): 10.00am - 6.00pm

Thursday (Off peak time): 10.00am – 7.00pm
Friday and Saturday (Peak time): 10.00am – 8.00pm
Sunday (Peak time) : 10.00am – 5.00pm

Please note: Weekends at the market can be very busy. If you’re bringing a dog, pushchair, wheelchair, or simply prefer more space to move around, we recommend visiting on a quieter weekday.

Closure from 2.00pm, Thursday 18th December 2025

Due to heavy rainfall, Wi******er Cathedral’s Christmas Market will close early today (Thursday 18th December 2025) from 2.00pm.

The safety of our visitors, staff, and stallholders is our top priority.

We plan to reopen as normal tomorrow (Friday 19th December 2025) from 10.00am.
