REASONS WHY WE LEFT THE UK 🇬🇧 AND MOVED TO CANADA 🇨🇦
Often times than not people have asked me why I and my family decided to up and leave the UK to Canada, some have even assumed that UK Is not a good country.
On this page months ago I have shared some reasons why we left but for the fact that my followers keep increasing it is ideal I talk about it again because I have been asked about it lately.
In life there is a level you will get to, to know that it is not all about money, other factors aside financial reasons can make you decide to do some certain things.
I and my family moved to the UK on a student visa and when I graduated and got my COS from my employer it was a prayer answered at that time because we didn’t want to go the post study route which was capital intensive and was only valid for two years.
So here are my reasons👇🏼
1. I didn’t see myself working that particular job in same establishment for 5 years, it was a hostile environment and I worked the night shift, there was always this silent bättle between the day shift crew and the night shift crew (if you are a healthcare assistant in the UK you will know what I mean).
2. The job was draining me, although I was physically present at home during the day I wasn’t giving my children the best of me because I was always in bed sleeping or busy getting some things done.
I didn’t want to wake up one day and find out that I do not know my children anymore because I wasn’t involved in their lives.
3. Just the fact that my stay in a country was tied to a particular job didn’t sit well with me, had it been it was a job I enjoyed doing maybe it wouldn’t be an issue.
I had this nagging feeling that my contract might be terminated anytime and I wouldn’t have something to fall back on.
4. The UK immigration laws are unstable and there have always been a debate on implementing laws that may not favor me and my family. We wanted something stable and concrete.
5. As a Canadian permanent resident the pathway to citizenship is straightforward and short unlike the UK, we were still on a sponsorship work visa and we were required to be there for 5 years before we would be eligible to apply for permanent residency (ILR, indefinite leave to remain).
6. I needed a stable family life, we took the decision to leave because we were not able to balance that.
7. FREEDOM, I wanted to be free to do what ever I wanted without inhibitions. I wanted to be able to control my time.
8. We wanted to stop worrying about immigration laws and visa renewal.
9. Before we even came to the uk we tried to get Canadian PR from Nigeria but it wasn’t forth coming, so when the option of uk came up we grabbed it with both hands.
We came into the uk with an open mind but we had to weigh some factors and we agreed that Canada was the best for our family.
UK changed our story and was and is still a blessing to us.
My husband wants us to base in canada while he will be free to run his business and work from anywhere he wants.
That being said, this does not summarise the story of everyone who migrated to the UK, these are solely my experiences and thoughts.
So, before you start discrediting or criticising my post just remember you are not me or any member of my nuclear family.
(I made this post exactly a year ago, and it went viral😁)
