This week, I had the very tough job of visiting our local chocolate maker, Mary, at L&J Chocolate - how jammy am I? 🙈

Mary's chocolate was recommended to me by a friend before we ever opened the shop, before that, I never knew that we had our very own local chocolate handmade only 15 minutes from Carrigahorig.

I was so delighted to get to visit Mary and learn more about the chocolate making process. Mary's chocolate is all natural, with no unnecessary ingredients added and is handmade using whole fruits and nuts.

We feel very lucky to have worked with Mary since the start of our shop adventure. We love having such a great array of her chocolate bars, pops, shards & hot chocolates at the shop. Kate and I are also regular consumers of L&J chocolate, it's a firm favorite sweet treat with our customers too 😋

In the last of our summer road trips, I was delighted to travel to lovely Laois to catch up with Mimo of O'Mimos sauces and to talk all things chilli 🌶

Having started out in her home kitchen, Mimo's sauces have gone from strength to strength including winning Great Taste awards 🙌

We are always happy to talk O'Mimo's at the shop and can recommend one to suit you ... there are fantastic choices & flavours in the range 😋

We feel very lucky to have worked with Mimo since the start of our shop journey. We love having her vibrant jars on our shop dresser. They are really popular with our customers and we always have a few jars in the fridge at home too ❤️

We are delighted to put Carrigahorig on the Lough Derg Sandwich Trail map .... do call in to taste our Carrigahorig Crumble Sandwich which features our own apples & blackberries grown a stones throw from the shores of Lough Derg ❤️

We took a short spin up the road to Lorrha to visit Conor's organic market garden in Redwood.

We were lucky enough to get a full tour of the tunnels and garden. It was amazing to see the variety of crops Conor is growing here and to learn about the key principles of organic growing.

We are very excited to try the Uchiki Kuri (winter squash) when they are harvested, we had never seen these before 🧡

We feel so privileged to have organic produce from Conor at the shop (at the moment we have his cherry tomatoes). The amount of hard work, patience and perseverance that goes into growing organically on this scale is so impressive to see 👏

I headed off on a solo trip to South Tipp to visit Sinéad from Little Deer, just outside the gorgeous village of Fethard.

I was lucky enough to get a tour of the garden and hear all about the importance of locally grown and foraged fruits and veg in Sinéad's jam and chutney creations. I loved hearing the story behind the name of the brand too 🦌

We feel very privileged to work with such a passionate and creative producer. We love having Little Deer jams and chutneys on our shop dresser. They are a firm favourite with ourselves and our customers too 😋
