A very sad day indeed for our community!!
We wish Des and all his staff the very best for the future.
Thanks for everything you have done for the community over the decades.
Today is a very sad day for the entire community as we see Des Kennedy’s Centra close its doors.
Des has done so much for so many people over the years. There are countless acts of kindness that nobody ever knew about because he never looked for recognition or thanks. He simply helped people because that was the kind of man he was.
He supported local football clubs, community groups, schools, charities and societies throughout the area for decades. He stood by people when they were going through difficult times, always offering a helping hand, often quietly and without any fuss.
Des also gave opportunities to generations of young people through employment. Many got their very first job in Centra, where they learned valuable skills, built their confidence and took their first steps into the world of work. That investment in young people has had a lasting impact on so many lives.
A special word of thanks must also go to the wonderful staff who worked alongside Des over the years. They were always friendly, welcoming and helpful, and became familiar faces to everyone who walked through the doors. They, too, will be greatly missed.
Des Kennedy is a true gentleman and a true legend of Stepaside.
On behalf of the community, thank you, Des, for everything you have done. Your generosity, kindness and commitment have left a lasting mark on so many lives.
You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Stepaside Village simply won’t be the same without you.
