Request for public demand- Humanitarian Grounds
Dear Sir
I am writing to request you to highlight a long-pending demand regarding Divisional Railway Manager Northern Railway Jammu and Assistant Divisional Engineer Budgam on your esteemed page.
This issue is being raised on a purely humanitarian basis as it affects the daily lives and dignity of the people of Below Mentioned Villages
ubject: Urgent Demand for Footover Bridge (FOB) at Qazigund Railway Yard – Rectification of a 15-Year-
Old Grievance.
Respected Sir
We the residents of Checkibadwani, Danjimullah, Herpora, Watihal, Kurigam, Nagress, Malikpoor,
and Qazigund adjoining areas, are writing to express our deep distress over the unfulfilled promise of a bridge at
the Qazigund Railway Yard.

assurances at the time of construction, no replacement crossing was ever provided. This has created a

—including schools, hospitals, markets, the Tehsil office, and the Food Department—that are physically
located only less than 1 km away.
Severance of Livelihood and Agriculture:
The railway yard has cut off direct access to ancestral Agricultural Lands for farmers in Checkibadwani,
Danjimullah, Herpora, Watihal, Kurigam, Nagress, Qazigund and its adjoining areas, Moving farming
equipment, seeds, and harvests now requires a massive detour, significantly increasing the cost and labor
of farm
Targeted Hardship: This burden falls most heavily on students who are exhausted before reaching class,
patients seeking urgent medical care, and the elderly who cannot sustain such long walks.
Extreme Danger: To avoid the 5 km detour, many are forced to trespass across active railway tracks,
creating a constant risk of fatal accidents within the yard.
