Monsoon is around the corner and rainwater harvesting may now look counterproductive.
But it’s all the more the more reason to have a rooftop rainwater harvesting system in place. Rainwater accumulates quickly on artificial features like a roof and drips down to the lawns around the house . It soaks in the ground and can make the land around the house unstable and can trigger landslides and be dangerous to the house itself.
So even if one has enough water, one should install a rainwater system on their roofs, so rainwater, especially monsoon rains, can be piped down from the rooftops and be directed towards the nearest rain-fed nullah or stream.

Corn has domesticated us. It’s everywhere and knowingly or unknowingly we all are either feeding on it or dependant on it.
All that and more in this wonderful book called ‘The Omnivore’s Dilemma’ by one of my favourite writers, Michael Pollan .

We start our apricot harvest and we start the harvest picking the fruit for dehydration.
For this, the fruit must be ripe on the branch itself so we selectively pick or thin the fruit as they ripen.

The evolutionary goal of any tree (or any living being) is to pass on its genes.
The Fruit is just PR strategy of a tree. It’s just marketing. What the tree cares about is the production of the seeds, where it sends all its energy.

Enjoy the beauty and fragrance of these wild flowers blooming all over the mountains these days.
These are flowers of the Rose Hip or Rosa Brunonii, a flowering native shrub that grows on the borders of orchards and in forests.
These flowers are crucial source of food for our native bee, the Apis Cerana, whose numbers are plummeting by the year.
Flowering Shrubs like these provide a continuous supply of nectar and pollen for these bees so their colonies remain healthy and they can help farmers in Pollination.
