Innovation never stops at M'bwezera Chilengedwe Project.

We are working on producing a unique grafted tree that will bear both oranges and tangerines on the same tree.

Imagine harvesting two of your favourite citrus fruits from a single tree!

🌱 This innovation is designed to:
✅ Save space in your garden or orchard
✅ Increase the variety of fruits from one tree
✅ Make home orchards more productive
✅ Offer farmers and households a unique planting option

We are currently in the production phase, and if all goes according to plan, the first trees will be available from the end of August.

What if planting one tree could change a family's future?

At M'bwezera Chilengedwe Project, we believe it can.

We are more than a tree nursery. We are a community committed to restoring the environment, improving nutrition, creating sustainable livelihoods, and inspiring a new generation of farmers through fruit trees.

🍌 BANANA FARMING STARTS WITH CLEAN PLANTING MATERIAL 🍌

Greetings alk members of – M'bwezera Chilengedwe Project.

Did you know that many banana production problems begin before planting?

Many farmers obtain suckers from neighbouring farms without knowing whether the mother plants are infected with diseases or infested with pests. As a result, problems are transferred directly into new fields.

Common banana challenges include:

⚠️ Fusarium Wilt (Panama Disease)
⚠️ Banana Bunchy Top Disease
⚠️ Black Sigatoka
⚠️ Banana Weevils
⚠️ Nematodes

These problems can significantly reduce yields and, in severe cases, destroy entire plantations.

🌳 KNOW YOUR FRUIT TREE – MANGO 🌳

Good morning members of - M'bwezera Chilengedwe Project.

Did you know that mango is not only a fruit for home consumption but also one of the most promising fruit businesses in Malawi?

🥭 A healthy mature mango tree can produce between 200 and 1,000 fruits per season depending on the variety, age, management practices, and environmental conditions.

🌍 Mangoes are among the most traded tropical fruits in the world. Major producers include India, China, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, and several African countries.

🇲🇼 Malawi has a unique advantage. In many areas, mangoes mature earlier than in some competing producing regions, creating opportunities to supply markets when fruit availability is lower elsewhere. In addition, Malawian mangoes are widely appreciated for their sweetness, flavour, and aroma, attributes linked to our favourable climate and growing conditions.

📈 Varieties such as:
✅ Tommy Atkins
✅ Kent
✅ Alphonso (Alphonso)

are highly sought after in both fresh fruit and processing markets.

Potential markets include:
• Local fruit vendors and supermarkets
• Juice and fruit processing companies
• Hotels and restaurants
• Regional and export markets where quality and consistency can be maintained

The biggest challenge is often not demand but producing enough high-quality fruit consistently and organizing supply from growers.
