🌱 ORGANIC CERTIFICATION: EPISODE 2 πŸ₯•πŸ“‹
What does it take to become organically certified through a Participatory Guarantee System (PGS)?
In Episode 2, we continue our conversation on Organic Certification for the Namibian Market and explore the steps involved in the PGS process β€” from submitting documentation and pre-assessment to physical farm assessments. 🌿
We also take a closer look at record keeping for organic vegetable products and why documenting your farming activities matters. πŸ“πŸ₯¬
Good records help producers keep track of their practices, production and products while supporting transparency and accountability throughout the certification process.
🌍 Sustainable agriculture starts with knowledge, transparency and community.

🌱 HOW DO WE KNOW IF SOMETHING IS REALLY ORGANIC? πŸ€”
Organic agriculture is about more than what goes into the soil. It’s also about trust, transparency and responsible production. 🌍
That’s where organic verification and certification come in.
In this conversation, we explore the different approaches, including:
🌿 First-party verification
🀝 Second-party verification
πŸ”Ž Third-party certification
🌱 Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS)
πŸ“‹ The inspection process
🌍 NOA’s use of IFOAM norms
PGS offers a participatory approach where farmers and other stakeholders can work together to build trust, share knowledge and strengthen organic practices within local communities. 🀝🌾
At Living Earth, we believe knowledge connects people and creates stronger communities. Understanding how organic products are verified is an important step towards making more informed choices and supporting sustainable agriculture in Namibia. πŸ‡³πŸ‡¦πŸ’š
