Yes, cassava is cheaper in the market today. Garri, fufu, and fresh tubers are selling for next to nothing. Many farmers are discouraged.

But here’s the truth elders know: Cheap today does not mean worthless tomorrow.

When rice and yam prices jump, cassava keeps the poor man’s pot boiling. If you don’t plant, you’ll buy later at 3x the price.
If Raw cassava is cheap, Processed garri, fufu flour, starch, ethanol, chips, that’s where money hides. Plant now, process later, and sell smart.

Cassava doesn’t beg for fertilizer like maize. It survives drought, poor soil, and neglect. It’s the insurance crop” for every farmer.
Today’s glut is tomorrow’s scarcity. Those who plant when price is low harvest when price is high. Farming is patience, not panic.

Don’t abandon cassava because market price is low. Abandoning it is how we create hunger later.
