Between Amonim Bicarbonate, Ammonium Nitrate and Anhydrous Ammonia

What is Anhydrous Ammonia?
Chemical formula: NH₃

“Anhydrous” means no water

It is a gas under normal conditions but stored as a pressurized liquid

Key Differences Compared to the Others
1. Nitrogen Content (the biggest advantage)
Anhydrous ammonia → about 82% nitrogen

Ammonium nitrate → about 33–34% nitrogen

Ammonium bicarbonate → about 17% nitrogen

👉 This makes anhydrous ammonia the most concentrated nitrogen fertilizer available.

2. Physical Form
Anhydrous ammonia

Stored as liquid under pressure

Turns into gas when released

Ammonium nitrate / bicarbonate

Solid fertilizers (granules or powder)

3. Application Method
Anhydrous ammonia

Must be injected into the soil

Cannot be broadcast on the surface

Requires special equipment

Others

Can be spread on soil easily

4. Efficiency in Soil
Anhydrous ammonia

Very efficient when properly applied

Converts to ammonium (NH₄⁺) in soil and stays longer

Less nitrogen loss if injected correctly

Ammonium bicarbonate

High nitrogen loss (evaporation)

Ammonium nitrate

Good balance and availability

5. Safety and Handling
Anhydrous ammonia

Highly dangerous if mishandled

Can cause severe burns (skin, eyes, lungs)

Requires trained handling and protective gear

Ammonium nitrate

Safer to handle but regulated

Ammonium bicarbonate

Much safer and easier to handle

6. Cost Efficiency
Anhydrous ammonia

Cheapest per unit of nitrogen

But requires expensive equipment

Ammonium nitrate

Moderate cost and easy use

Ammonium bicarbonate

Cheapest upfront but less efficient

Simple Comparison
Anhydrous ammonia → Highest nitrogen, most efficient, but requires expertise and equipment

Ammonium nitrate → Balanced, effective, easy to use

Ammonium bicarbonate → Cheap but less stable and less efficient

Practical Insight (especially for Nigeria)
Anhydrous ammonia is rarely used by small-scale farmers because:

Equipment is expensive

Safety risks are high

Distribution infrastructure is limited

It is mostly used in large-scale mechanized farming systems.

Rock Phosphate vs SSP & TSP: Why Smart Fertilizer Buyers Start with the Raw Material

Introduction: The Strategic Choice Behind Phosphorus Supply
If you are sourcing phosphorus for fertilizer production, bulk agriculture, or export trading, the real question is not just which fertilizer to buy—but:

Should you go straight to the source?

While Single Superphosphate (SSP) and Triple Superphosphate (TSP) are widely used, experienced buyers, manufacturers, and distributors increasingly prefer Rock Phosphate Powder—the primary raw material behind all phosphate fertilizers.

This guide explains:

The real difference between Rock Phosphate, SSP, and TSP
Why Rock Phosphate is often the smarter long-term investment
How it powers global fertilizer production
And how your business can benefit from sourcing it directly
What is Rock Phosphate?
Rock Phosphate is a naturally occurring mineral rich in phosphorus (P₂O₅), processed into powder for:

Direct soil application
Fertilizer manufacturing (SSP, TSP, NPK)
Industrial chemical use
Unlike processed fertilizers, it is cost-effective, versatile, and scalable for bulk supply.

Looking for supply?
Explore our Rock Phosphate Powder or Rock Phosphate Granular

Quick Comparison: Rock Phosphate vs SSP vs TSP
Feature Rock Phosphate SSP TSP
Type Natural raw material Processed fertilizer Processed fertilizer
P₂O₅ Content 28–32% 16–20% 44–48%
Solubility Slow-release Medium Fast
Cost Lowest Medium Highest
Best Use Manufacturing & long-term soil Direct application High-efficiency farming
Why Rock Phosphate is a Smart Business Decision
1. Lower Cost, Higher Margins
Buying Rock Phosphate allows you to:

Avoid processing premiums
Control your own fertilizer formulation
Increase profit margins in NPK production
2. Full Control in Fertilizer Production
Rock Phosphate is the starting point for:

SSP (via sulfuric acid)
TSP (via phosphoric acid)
DAP / MAP / NPK
Instead of buying finished products, you control the entire value chain

3. Strong Demand in Global Markets
Countries with large agricultural sectors (e.g., Brazil, India) rely heavily on imported phosphate raw materials.

4. Long-Term Soil Value (For Agricultural Buyers)
While SSP and TSP act fast, Rock Phosphate:

Builds soil fertility over time
Releases nutrients gradually
Performs well in acidic soils
How Rock Phosphate Becomes SSP & TSP
Understanding this gives you a major business advantage.

Production Flow:
Process Breakdown:
Rock Phosphate Mining
Grinding into Powder
Chemical Processing:
Sulfuric Acid → SSP
Phosphoric Acid → TSP
Further processing into NPK, DAP, MAP
Key Insight:
SSP and TSP are simply upgraded versions of Rock Phosphate

When Should You Choose Rock Phosphate Over SSP or TSP?
Choose Rock Phosphate if you are:

✔ A fertilizer manufacturer
✔ A bulk importer or exporter
✔ Running an NPK blending plant
✔ Targeting long-term agricultural projects
✔ Focused on cost efficiency and scalability

Why Buy Rock Phosphate from Fertilizer.com.ng?
At Blessed Oladejo Investment Ltd, we source for our clients:

Export-grade Rock Phosphate Powder (28–32% P₂O₅)
Flexible supply (bulk, jumbo bags, containers)
FEx Factory Price
SGS inspection (on request)
Reliable sourcing for long-term contracts

A SuperTech Methanol and Ammonium Bicarbonate plant that has the capacity to produce 100,000 metric tons of methanol and 160,000 metric tons of ammonium bicarbonate annually has marked a historic leap for Nigeria’s gas-based industrialization.

The Chinese-owned SuperTech Chemical Industry Limited which just relocated its entire production facility from China to Nigeria this year operates is the first indigenous Methanol and Ammonium Bicarbonate plant in Nigeria.

Necessary support to scale production from the current 100,000 metric tons to the projected 500,000 metric tons by 2026 has been promised by the FG.
