“Organic Vaccine” in Poultry? Let's Clear the Air
There is no such thing as an “organic vaccine.” A vaccine is a vaccine. It is not a leaf, root, bark, or herbal mixture.
Vaccines are biological products developed in laboratories. They contain weakened or killed disease organisms that train a bird's immune system to recognize and fight specific diseases.
That is why vaccines are disease-specific. Newcastle vaccine protects against Newcastle disease, while Gumboro vaccine protects against Gumboro disease.
Herbs and organic preparations are not vaccines. They may improve appetite, reduce stress, or support general health, but they cannot teach a bird's immune system to recognize and fight viral diseases. Only vaccines can do that.
When farmers claim an “organic vaccine” worked, the birds may simply have benefited from good management, strong biosecurity, low disease pressure, or luck. That does not mean herbs replaced vaccination.
Get it right: viral diseases have no cure. Once they enter your poultry house, herbs cannot stop them, and antibiotics cannot stop them.
Prevention through proper vaccination remains the most reliable protection.
There is a reason why serious poultry farms and hatcheries around the world still vaccinate. If herbs could replace vaccines, vaccines would have disappeared long ago.
The best approach is balance: use vaccines to prevent deadly diseases and use herbs to support overall health.
Depending on herbs alone is a risky gamble. One outbreak can wipe out everything you have worked for.
Vaccines are not optional in poultry production. They have no substitute.
