Boldly Written by AUTHORESS DIMMA

Ten months later...

Steph gave birth to her child in London, and ever since then, all Ejike's money has been spent due to the expenses he incurred when she traveled to London.

Steph's mother had already arrived for postpartum care(omugwo). Ejike's happiness was tempered by exhaustion, but he still felt a surge of joy each time he looked at his son.

One day, as he sat outside the corridor, lost in thought about his dwindling business and depleted finances, when the lawyer approached him.

"Ejike, thank God I meet you today. I'm here to collect the rent. And you know how the owner of this occupant behaves so please go in and bring the money," the lawyer uttered.

"Please barrister, have a little patient for me, I'm already on it," Ejike pleaded.

Just then, Steph came out frowning her face.

"I'll give you just one week to provide the money else I'm going to throw you out of this house," the lawyer thundered, before leaving the premises.

"Babe, please give me money to stock the house. You know my mom doesn't eat food that was cooked yesterday so please give me money I need to buy foodstuffs and cook for her so she can eat," Steph muttered.

"Are you okay, Steph? Do you want to kill me? Do you want me dead?" Ejike asked looking frustrated.

"How do you mean ejike?" Steph asked opening hands in Surprise.

"Didn't you see the lawyer? He's here to collect the rent. And besides, I can recall buying yams, beans, and so many other things for the kitchen. what do you mean by "stock the house?" Ejike asked.

"Listen Ejike, lady Tasha is in your house and she doesn't do manage. Beside, why are you been so stingy? You've this money why can't you bring it out for me to cook for my mum," Steph uttered.

"I don't have money Steph. Is not about been stingy. Right now, I'm only interested in saving money for the rent so the lawyer will not chase us out," Ejike exclaimed.

"So, you're saying my mom can't eat because you're saving money for rent? Now listen, Ejike, my mum is craving fried rice and chicken so can you please give me the money to get it for her?' Steph explained, her voice laced with anger"

"I don't have money Steph. Let me be," Ejike thundered.

Steph stood up for a while before walking out on him.

"My daughter, what is it? Why are you frowning?" Lady Tasha asked.

"Mum, is my husband, he has refused to bring the money. Beside mum, I thought you eat pounded yam?" Steph asked.

"Yes, but I don't like to eat it now. Just get me fried rice and chicken; and don't forget to buy Hollandia yoghurt for me," lady Tasha ordered.

"Mum, ejike said he doesn't have money; He's Saving up for the rent," Steph explained.

"He's mad. Why is he being stingy? Look, your husband behave like my father when he was still alive. And guess what my mum did to him. (She paused) she searched for his money and stole it. My dear don't let this man ride you like a horse," lady Tasha thundered.

"Mum, wait (Steph paused) are you asking me to steal from my husband?"

"Yes, he is stingy. He didn't want to give you his money so I suggest you take it from him by force my dear," lady Tasha advised.

"Mum, you're right. I'll do it," Steph promised.

Hours later, Ejike stepped out to receive fresh air.

When he returned, he was surprise seen Steph and her mother eating with take aways on the dinning and bottles of Hollandia yoghurt and so many of them.

Ejike's heart skipped a beat. He later went inside, his mind racing, and began searching for his money.

After searching for a while, he found out that his wife has stole his money.

His heart swelled with anger and pain. He approached them in the dinning area, his eyes flashing with a mix of frustration and hurt.

"Steph, who took the money I kept in the drawer?" Ejike asked looking angry

"What? Ejike, so you have money. And you lied to me, saying you don't have money. Ejike idi very wicked. You're a wicked man," Steph thundered.

"Steph, I was saving that money to pay the house rent. Don't tell me you stole it Steph," Ejike said faintly.

"I did as you can see. I use it to buy the things my mother need," Steph thundered.

"Is not true Steph," Ejike said.

"It is my dear. If it pain you, go hug the transformer," Steph thundered.

"Yes Ejike. Why are you being stingy. Do you know who I am?" Lady Tasha uttered.

"Yes I know who you are. Lady Tasha or whatever you call yourself. You didn't try raising your children. If this is how you and your daughters behave, that means you all lack home training," Ejike thundered.

Immediately, Steph throw a hot slap on him.

"Are you mad? How dare you insult my mom? Are you crazy?" Steph asked, boiling in anger.

"No let him insult me. I don't blame you. I blame myself for allowing him to marry my daughter. If not, will I be here recieving insult?" Lady Tasha thundered.

"Steph, did you just slap me?" Ejike asked faintly.

"And I'll slap you again. How dare you insult my mother what gave you the guts?" Steph thundered.

"You know what, Steph go in pack your bags we are leaving here asap," lady Tasha ordered.

"What? Mum please I'm sorry. You can't take my wife away now. Please forgive me," Ejike pleaded.

"That is your business. And point of correction, I'm not your mother. Your mother is the destitute woman in the village," lady Tasha thundered walking out on them.

"You can't do what she said right?" Ejike pleaded to Steph who has already stood up to follow her mother.

"I will my dear. I'm leaving. I'm seriously tired of this Charade called marriage," Steph thundered walking out on him.

"Please Steph don't do this I beg you," Ejike pleaded but Stephanie ignored him.

Hours later, lady Tasha and Steph were ready to head out. Lady Tasha cradled the child in her arms, while Steph shouldered the bags.

Ejike followed them pleading and knelling but they ignored him.

"You know my father's place. Any time you want to see your child just come there. I'm tired of this stupid marriage," Steph shouted at him.

She slid into her mother's car with her child and bags, And they drove off.

Ejike fell down on the floor and wept bitterly.
