🌧️ “THE DAY WE ALMOST CLOSED EARLY”
It was raining that evening in Enugu — the kind of rain that makes you question your career choices.
The street was quiet. Smoke was rising lazily from the grill, and the aroma filled the air, but nobody was coming.
We had grilled four big fish already, marinated to perfection, sealed, ready… but not a single customer had arrived.
Someone from the team sighed, “Oga, maybe we should just close. Rain don scatter market today.”
I almost agreed. Until one car pulled over.
A man came out, drenched, holding an umbrella that wasn’t helping. He said, “I’ve been craving this since last week. I don’t care if it’s raining fire — I must buy today.”
We all laughed.
But that one order changed everything that night.
Because ten minutes later, two more cars stopped.
By 9:00 PM, we were out of stock.
