GOLDEN RULES ON OIL PALM PLANTATION

1. Start your Planting this Season with the right planting material.
(this alone can double your income)
*Use Tenera F1 (hybrid) seedlings, or Malaysian Supergene*
not wild Dura
Source from certified nurseries (NIFOR-standard)
Why it matters:
--Dura = low oil yield
--Tenera F1 = high oil yield
--Malaysian Supergene= Oil Money

2. Maximize yield per acre
A good acre should carry 55–60 palms
Target per year (mature farm):
10–15 tons FFB per hectare (~4–6 tons per acre)
With good management, you can push higher
To achieve this:
Proper spacing (9m or at least 7m triangular)
Regular weeding (*don’t let bush choke your palms*)
Fertilizer application (NPK + organic manure)
Mulching (very important in your region)
3. Don’t sell raw — PROCESS
This is where ₦1M is hiding.
From ~5 tons FFB:
You can get ~800–1,000 liters of palm oil
If you sell FFB:
You might make ₦400k–₦600k
If you process into oil:
At ₦1,200–₦1,500 per liter
👉 You’re looking at ₦960k – ₦1.5M
That’s the difference.
4. Reduce processing losses (most farmers lose money here)
Use a good mill (not crude local methods that waste oil)
Don’t delay processing after harvest
Sort fruits properly
Even a 10% oil loss can wipe out your profit.
5. Add extra income streams (smart farmers don’t rely on one product)
From the same acre:
Palm kernel (PKO & nuts)
Palm kernel cake (animal feed)
Intercrop (cassava, plantain in early years)
These can add ₦100k–₦300k+ yearly
6. Timing your sales (this is underrated)
Don’t rush to sell during glut
Store oil when price is low
Sell during scarcity (prices can jump 30–50%)
7. Security & presence
You already know this from your content: 👉 “Your farm needs your presence”
Theft, poor harvesting, and negligence reduce yield silently
A supervised farm always outperforms an abandoned one
Reality check
You won’t hit ₦1M in the early years (0–3 years)
Real money starts from year 4–5 upward
Peak production: 8–15 years.
