Since battery is a direct application of force to another person's body. so any physical contact with the body of another person without his consent is sufficient to amount to force. The Tort of battery can be seen in the case of BENSON v. FEDERIC BART [1766] 97 ER 1130, where the plaintiff was ordered to be beaten by the defendant noble man who was a colonel in the British army. Following the order, the plaintiff was given numerous strokes of cane by the junior soldier . The plaintiff sued for battery. The defendant was held liable.

Overnight, I had a dream that I was humiliated and subjected to inhuman treatment by a man of the Nigerian Navy without a reasonable cause for doing that.

Now that I woke up I have been thinking of instituting an action against the naval officer and you know there's a compensation and other remedies await me if I can prove that I have suffer damage as a result of the inhuman treatment that I had been subjected to.
