List of basic emergency medicines every parents should Have at Home.
Prepared homes save lives.
Let’s be clear first…
This is not for treating everything at home.
It’s for those first few minutes before you get to the hospital.
1. ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt)….
Very important for diarrhea, vomiting, or dehydration.
2. Anti allergy medicine eg. Piriton /Loratidine….
For sudden rashes, itching, or mild allergic reactions.
3. Salbutamol inhaler only if already prescribed….
For children or adults with asthma or wheezing.
4. Glucose tablets / sugar cubes
For sudden low bl00d sugar.
5. Antacid (gestid or gecrol suspension)….
For stomach discomfort or heartburn.
6. Buscopan….
For tummy cramps and spasmodic abdominal pain.
7. Gripe water…
For colic or gas.
8. Antiseptic solution….
For cleaning small cuts and wounds.
9. Gauze, bandage & plaster….
Basic first aid for bleeding or injuries.
10. Thermometer….
So you don’t guess fever…. you confirm it.
11. Calamine lotion….
For heat rashes, insect bites,sun burns or mild skin irritation.
12. Paracetamol….
For fever and mild pain…. children and adults.
13. Emergency numbers….
Written down and saved. Very important.
Now listen…..
Having these does not mean delay hospital care.
If symptoms are severe, unusual, or not improving….. go to the hospital immediately.
Prepared homes don’t panic. They act wisely.
