Apology is trending across Nigeria after Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM 1), finally admitted to wrongdoing—except for allegations of drinking alcohol—amid the possibility of life imprisonment and a ₦26.7 million fine.
In a two-minute video, the Fuji maestro insisted the bottle in question was empty during security checks, claiming he only filled it with water after boarding, as medically prescribed by his doctor to treat dehydration. Despite standing by this version of events, K1 went on to tender multiple apologies—to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the pilot, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, and his global fanbase—pleading for forgiveness.
The apology follows a dramatic incident on Tuesday, when K1 allegedly tried to stop a ValueJet aircraft from taxiing for takeoff after being deboarded for unruly conduct. According to crew members, he was spotted drinking from a 100ml bottle suspected to contain alcohol. They alleged he spilled the contents on the pilot, confirming it was alcohol, which prompted security intervention.
