They told me that female cow can take longer to cook, and apparently even with goat, people say the male one gets done faster than the female one.

Abeg, as a customer that has gone to the market to buy meat, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? 😂😂

If I tell the butcher, “Please give me the male cow meat,” will he now bring out the cow's ID card and birth certificate? 😭😭

How do I know the difference before buying?

Because I don't want to carry one innocent-looking piece of meat home, put it on fire and discover that I have entered into a three-hour relationship with beef. 😂😂

So please, people that know these things:

How can you tell if the meat is from a male or female cow when buying? And is it actually true that one cooks faster than the other?

Because yesterday at that buka, I learnt that apparently, not all meat is created equal. 😂

At this point, EVERYONE selling snacks around my vicinity knows me. 😂😂

If it’s not Abacha, it’s moi moi. If it’s not moi moi, it’s corn moi moi , Walnut ,Basically, anything edible passing my way, I’m buying! 🤣

Once I hear their usual “advertising noise” from afar, I’m already shouting, “Come here!” 😂

The funny thing is, even when I don’t call them, some of them will still enter because they’ve already assumed I’m buying. 😭😂

Grandma has started saying, “I hope all these people will adjust when you travel o!” 🤣🤣

Honestly, I don’t know what happened to me. I think I lost my sense of feeding discipline since I came to the village. 😂

Our fufu has finished and you swallow is a must meal in the village 🤣 ask igbo people 🤣

So she said I should buy only the cassava
I was surprised and asked her what of corn flour for binder she said she will use chaff (the sediment left after processing pap)

Apparently, because we usually make pap for the children, that leftover chaff can also come in handy.

She used it and it came out very fine

EHURU OR EWU WHICH ONE HAS THE MORE HEAVENLY AROMA? 😂

One thing about me, my curiosity will not let me rest in the market. 😂

I actually went to the village market looking for ehuru (African nutmeg), and I saw it. Ehuru is very popular and very common, so I knew what I was looking at.

But right beside the ehuru, I saw this other one that I had never seen before. They were even selling the two together.

I asked, “Aunty, what is this one?” 😂

And that was how I started asking questions and learning about ewu.

Honestly, most of my learning about our natural spices and herbs happens in the market. There is always something new to discover! ❤️

Of course, I bought it. 😂

I was told that the aroma of ewu is deeper than ehuru, so I had to test it myself.

But this one has a little difference: you have to roast/toast it and grind it before using it, just like ehuru. Unlike ehuru, which some people use directly, this one really needs that roasting first.

And when I finally used it in my Banga stew / Ofe Akwu

Chai! 😩🤌🏽 The aroma!

So now, let me ask my market people:

Have you used ewu before? Do you even know this spice?

And between ewu and ehuru, which one do you think has the more heavenly aroma? 😂❤️

Are vinegar plant and King of Bitters the same plant? 🤔

Because I tasted vinegar for the first time this morning, and honestly, my experience with that plant is out of here 😭😂
The bitterness is in a class of it's own 😭😭

I took just a small quantity not even up to one full cup but since then, I have not really gotten myself.

As I’m writing this, it’s almost afternoon and I’m feeling dizzy and drowsy 😩

Someone told me maybe because I don’t have much sugar in my system, and the plant probably brought down whatever level I already had.

But honestly, this is my first time taking it and chai 😭😂

Please, those of you who know about these plants, are vinegar plant and King of Bitters the same thing? And has anyone experienced something similar after taking it? 👀
