Babanna Border Development Agency to Enhance Agricultural Partnerships
The Babanna Border Development Agency (BBDA) Niger state is poised to strengthen its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to boost Agricultural productivity and border security in Niger State. This development follows the Niger State Government's recent visit to the Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone in Benin Republic, where Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed interest in replicating the sustainable model at the Special Agro Processing Zone in Minna.
Key Partnership Highlights:
• Agricultural Monitoring: The BBDA and the State Ministry of Agriculture will work together to gather data on farmers within and around the border community, enhancing monitoring and management of agricultural activities.
• Joint Action Committee: A Joint Action Committee has been established to develop a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the partnership's framework and modalities.
• Economic Growth: The collaboration aims to drive long-term economic growth, empower local industries, and improve the livelihoods of border communities ¹ ² ³.
Babanna Border Market and Free Trade Zone
The Niger State Government has also urged the reopening of the Babanna land border in Borgu Local Government Area to stimulate economic activities and enhance development in border communities. The proposed Babanna Border Market and Free Trade Zone is expected to:
• Boost Trade: Increase trade and economic activity in the region
• Create Jobs: Generate employment opportunities and alleviate poverty
• Improve Infrastructure: Drive infrastructure development and foster regional cooperation

The Director-General of Babanna Border Development Agency, Mohammed Garba Danladi, has expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the agency's role in enhancing agricultural activities and border security. The agency is committed to working closely with the Ministry to achieve significant improvements in agricultural management and cross-border trade
