🌱THE GARDEN OF GROWTH 🌱
✍️✍️Chapter Four: Finding Your Strength✍️✍️
A few weeks after learning to understand his emotions, Ethan noticed something strange.
He was changing.
Not physically.
Not dramatically.
But internally.
He felt more aware of himself than ever before.
One Friday afternoon, Mrs. Williams entered the classroom carrying a large box.
The students immediately became curious.
"What is that?" someone asked.
Mrs. Williams smiled.
"A challenge."
The class groaned.
Another assignment.
Just what they needed.
She placed the box on her desk.
Inside were dozens of folded papers.
"Each paper contains a different task," she explained.
"Some involve leadership. Some involve creativity. Some involve communication. Some involve problem-solving."
She paused.
"The goal is to discover strengths you may not know you have."
One by one, students picked a paper.
Ethan unfolded his.
His stomach dropped.
Plan and lead a small community project.
"No way," he whispered.
Public speaking?
Leading people?
Absolutely not.
He almost asked for another task.
But Mrs. Williams shook her head.
"No exchanges."
The following week, students began working on their projects.
Ethan struggled.
Every idea seemed impossible.
Every plan seemed foolish.
Every attempt felt like failure.
One afternoon, while staring at a blank notebook, his younger sister Lily walked into his room.
"What's wrong?"
"My project."
"What about it?"
"I don't know how to lead people."
Lily frowned.
"Who told you that?"
"I just know."
She laughed.
"You also said you couldn't ride a bicycle."
"That was years ago."
"You said you couldn't swim."
"I learned."
"You said you couldn't speak during assembly."
Ethan sighed.
"Okay, okay."
Lily crossed her arms.
"Maybe the problem isn't that you can't do it."
"What is it then?"
"Maybe you've already decided you'll fail."
The words stayed with him long after she left.
The next day, Ethan decided to try.
Just try.
Nothing more.
Nothing less.
He organized a small school clean-up campaign.
At first, only three students volunteered.
Then five.
Then eight.
Then twelve.
To Ethan's surprise, people listened to his ideas.
They followed his instructions.
They respected his efforts.
The project wasn't perfect.
There were mistakes.
Confusion.
Unexpected problems.
But they completed it.
Successfully.
The following week, students presented their projects.
When it was Ethan's turn, he stood nervously in front of the class.
His hands shook.
His heart raced.
But he spoke anyway.
He explained the challenges.
The lessons.
The successes.
When he finished, the room erupted in applause.
Mrs. Williams smiled.
"Ethan, what did you learn?"
He thought for a moment.
Then answered honestly.
"I learned that I was stronger than I thought."
The room became quiet.
Mrs. Williams nodded.
"Many teenagers spend so much time focusing on their weaknesses that they never discover their strengths."
Those words hit Ethan deeply.
That evening, he opened his journal.
On a fresh page, he wrote:
Things I Thought I Couldn't Do:
Speak in public
Lead a team
Manage a project
Believe in myself
Then he wrote:
Things I Actually Can Do:
Learn
Improve
Adapt
Grow
As he stared at the list, something inside him shifted.
For years, he had been looking at himself through the lens of what he lacked.
Now he was beginning to see what he possessed.
Patience.
Kindness.
Creativity.
Determination.
Leadership.
Resilience.
They had been there all along.
Hidden beneath layers of doubt.
The truth was, Ethan didn't need to become someone else.
He didn't need Joshua's athletic ability.
Or Grace's academic awards.
Or Amara's business skills.
He simply needed to become the best version of himself.
Because every person has strengths.
Some are obvious.
Some take time to discover.
But everyone has them.
Including him.
That night, Ethan stood in front of the mirror.
This time, he didn't see someone falling behind.
He didn't see someone who wasn't enough.
He saw someone growing.
Someone learning.
Someone becoming.
And for the first time in a very long time, he smiled at his reflection.
🤔🤔Chapter 4 Lesson🤔🤔
You do not need to be someone else to succeed. Everyone has unique gifts, talents, and strengths. Growth begins when you stop focusing only on your weaknesses and start developing the strengths that already exist within you.
