Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red and son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, narrowly escaped an a+sass+nation attempt in Osogbo on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3:30 PM near the Oke-Fia axis, close to the Government House, when the music star was said to have been trailed and pursued by suspected hoodlums.

Recounting the incident, B-Red said, “As I went out to buy some stuff around Alekuwodo market, I just saw some Okada riders with AMBO caps trying to surround my vehicle at a traffic point under Okefia Bridge.”

He explained that the situation escalated when another vehicle joined the scene. “As we tried to move out, we saw a white Toyota Venza coming towards us with a shout of ‘it is him; it is him.’”

NASU, SSANU Declare Nationwide Strike Over Failed Allowance Negotiations, Set to Shut Down Federal Universities.

Operations across federal universities and inter-university centres are set to be disrupted as the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of NASU and SSANU announced a nationwide strike beginning midnight on May 1, 2026.

In a letter dated April 30, 2026, and addressed to the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, the unions said the action followed the Federal Government’s failure to conclude renegotiations and present a fresh offer on allowances. The letter was signed by NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, and SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim.

The unions stated: “We write to acknowledge receipt of your correspondence and to equally appreciate the Honourable Minister of Education for withdrawing the contentious letter,” referring to the earlier circular on a 30 per cent increase in the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance.

UK Moves to End Sm@king for Life;Bans Anyone Born After 2008 from Ever Buying To***co.

In a historic move, the Parliament of the United Kingdom has approved a groundbreaking bill that will permanently bar anyone aged 17 and under from ever legally purchasing to***co products.

The new To***co and Vapes Bill means individuals born on or after January 1, 2009, will never be allowed to buy ci******es or other to***co products, even when they reach adulthood.

Once it takes effect, the United Kingdom will become the second nation globally, after the Maldives, to introduce a generational sm@king ban.

Set to begin on January 1, 2027, the law will gradually raise the legal sm@king age each year, starting from 19, then 20, and continuing upward, effectively phasing out to***co use among future generations.

Beyond to***co restrictions, the bill also targets v+ping. It grants the government powers to regulate v+pe flavours and packaging, ban advertising and sponsorship of ni****ne products, and extend sm@ke-free zones to include areas like playgrounds and school surroundings.
These measures build on a previous ban on disposable v+pes introduced in June.

While current sm@kers will not face penalties, retailers who violate the law by selling to***co to those born after 2008 risk a £200 fine.

Supporters say the law could significantly reduce sm@king rates and protect young people from peer pressure. Critics, however, warn it may fuel a black market. But public health advocates argue similar concerns have failed to materialise with past to***co regulations.

The law will officially come into force after receiving royal assent, marking a bold step in the UK’s long-term public health strategy to create a sm@ke-free generation.

Lagos Socialite ‘Ariket’ Bags 45-Year Jail Term Over C@caine Tr+fficking to Saudi Arabia.

Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Lagos-based socialite and convicted dr¥g tr+fficker, Funmilola Arike Ogbuaya, popularly known as Ariket, to 45 years in prison for exporting 1.595kg of c@caine to Saudi Arabia.

The court handed her 15 years each on three counts, conspiracy, possession, and unlawful exportation of c@caine. However, the sentences will run concurrently, meaning she will serve an effective 15-year term starting from May 19, 2017, the date of her arrest.

Ogbuaya was found guilty after a trial that stemmed from the arrest of her co-defendant, Odeyemi Omolara (also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi), at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in February 2017.

Omolara reportedly confessed that Ogbuaya supplied the dr¥gs. She had earlier pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in prison by Justice Hadiza Rabiu Shagari.

During the trial, prosecution witnesses detailed how the operation was carried out. Arresting officer Iyabode Shonibare told the court that Omolara cried out during her arrest, accusing “Arike” of setting her up. Other testimonies also linked Ogbuaya to the dr¥g consignment.

A security guard at Ogbuaya’s residence testified that Omolara spent the night before her arrest at the house and that the suspect personally drove her to the airport. He also revealed that the bag used for the tr+fficking had been delivered earlier by unidentified persons.

In her defence, Ogbuaya admitted knowing Omolara but denied involvement in dr¥g tr+fficking. She claimed she only gave her N10,000 for assistance and was unaware of any dr¥gs, despite dropping her at the airport on the day of the arrest.

Her lawyer, Yakubu Galadima, pleaded for leniency, citing her status as a first-time offender with dependents. But the court ruled in line with the law, upholding her conviction on all counts.
